Are completely kittened. There are now teams that are so bad that they have to rely on these runes and the broken downstate to even compete. Its pathetic, these runes don’t belong in competitive. No one wants to watch that kitten

They actualy enable glassier comps, at least some NA guys are trying it. So as long as theese runes make clunky stuff like power necro playable, its ok. Like the NA games are a bit funner to watch with theese huuuge teamwipe swings.

And downstate isnt broken , its actualy what makes gw2 unique. gw2 is downstate

But, ofc if we ever get to a immortal bunker meta with theese, then just right click and delete them from game.

Most thieves tend to save steal in 2v2s or teamfight situations against these comps, utilizing it on the resser or lich when people go down. Even then, it’s quite difficult to save steal sometimes, as sometimes you need it to rupt a heal, to peel, or for self-defense. Without steal or a proper cc (this is considering that the resser has no stab), people with mercy runes can res back an ally despite having 2 dps cleave, which is a bit ridiculous when the resser is a bunker.
The big problem about these kind of comps is the amazing team fight potency, low skill ceiling, and how it forces the other team to play actively to outplay the comp while you can play passive. I enjoy build diversity and have respect for teams that want to try something different, but I do not enjoy the diversity where it forces one team to play, arguably, substantially more reactive and active than the other team. Not all teams can achieve that kind of reactive play, which tips the balance to the passive comp when players of equal skill level are fighting eachother.

The comp’s not overpowered or anything…it’s just not fun to fight or probably even to play, disregarding if all you are looking for is a win. It’s counterable…but kitten’s just not fun to fight.

I just think we aren’t getting creative enough with these things yet! Maybe we should consider taking some more of those “while downed” and “while ressing” traits. A team of rangers and warriors, that every time a ranger goes down they drop a healing a spring for their res-bot.

Engies dropping slick-puddles so you have to stab-stomp and can’t really cleave as hard.

Maybe we can even make down-state ele a REAL thing..

In all honestly, I think mercy runes are an o.k. thing. Sure, they take skill to out-play, but its also a good thing if a “mercy comp” helps newer teams compete. As you know, there is a REALLY steep learning curve for teams to be able to reach higher levels. Its also cool to have more comps become viable other than 5x bruiser or “1 guard, 1 thief, 1 mes, 2x”
