Mesmer = Turret Engi
Just as strong, just as easy.
It’s the same kitten as turret engi, it can’t lose a 1v1, kittens crazy amounts of trash “AI” all over the point, and is so easy any nub can play it.
The main difference I would say is: turret engi could never kill anything but could cap a point while mesmer could cap a point BECAUSE you get killed if you’re on point.
and they both have “I win” buttons, turret engi = supply drop, memser = double moa. I MEAN COMON…
I recommend actually playing a Mesmer. Double Moa is a hugely debilitating move that uses up the Mesmer’s two biggest cooldowns and leaves them down for a considerable time. A skilled Mesmer won’t do it except in pretty special cases.
You need to learn to LOS,dodge,interrupt,block or blind that very long and obvious cast. For a necro, this shouldn’t pose many problems.
This is a learn to play issue.
Something will definitely be done about the Mesmer cheeze before the season starts. There’s no way all those nerfs to other professions make sense without also doing something about Mesmers.

I wouldn’t go as far as compare it to turret engi, but it does need toning down. I never noticed it until I tried 1v1ing a friend’s mesmer on a different class. As a thief I never noticed how bad it was because I could avoid the interrupts, but on a different class unless I’m constantly generating stability, I’m going to get daze/stun locked because there aren’t enough dodges to avoid every shatter and cc skill. I understood why scrappers were the only other class that could reliably 1v1 them.
So yeah, it’s basically keeping anything that would entertain the idea of defending a point from doing that, thus restricting what is viable on a team. I bet we’d have seen some mercenary 2-kit core engineers returning with some success if not for mesmer as it is right now.
I dueled a condi mesmer with my core condi, and after I got used to dodging the shatters and timing my condi burst, I was able to beat him every time. It was always a long, drawn out match with both of us loading each other with condis and hiding in stealth alot, but it became easier and easier to beat him 1v1.
But my opinion probably doesn’t matter, cause I also always beat the old turret engis. You know, those guys that had 1 condi cleanse and were completely helpless if you destroyed their turrets.

Turret engi could kill stuff while being afk literally. They where naturally tanky. A backpaddling 5 year old playing a turret engi that managed to drop his crate on top of a point when someone attacked would be a danger for anyone.
Mesmer cant kill kitten without timing shatters (while the target is rooted. stunned, has no more dodges or w/e). A lot of the defense they have comes from stuff they need to activate themselves like blocks, immunities etc. Without those defenses they die super super fast.
So no its not the same as turret engi.

The greatest easiest thing to beat them, was entering the fray with a Lich pulsing stability.
AOE turrets removal… stack 2 or 3 turrets engi on one point to lose the game.
