So, I’m opening this in hopes that someone can tell me some way to quickly determine the mesmer clone. I thought for sure that when you use the click-targeting option (reticle gets placed above their head) that would solve the issue; however, as soon as they go stealth, it’s gone.

I am sure there is some really simple way to determine (other than the bad players who backpedal and roll when no damage is coming). Some of the best mesmers I have fought come back and they never move a drop making it impossible to distinguish clone from player. The names give no clue. Also, gosh darn some of those mesmer clones hit hard.

Anyway, any help telling me how to find the Mesmer and not a clone would be greatly appreciated!

yes, click on them. EVen if they go stealth, your target disappears, but not the arrow above their head pointing to the real mesmer.

Teviko also pointed it out, the arrow on the head points the mesmer. You’ll also notice it when they go down. Their #2 ability creates a downed clone of themself, and you’ll see the real mesmer nearby, with the arrow above their head.

Clones don’t dual wield. They only cast one ability. The don’t jump, turn, sidestep, backpedal, roll, ect. They run in straight lines over aoe’s, traps, ect.

If the mesmer is standing completely still, depending on what weapon he is using (staff/GS), and only casting auto attack, he SHOULD be indistinguishable from his or her clones. Otherwise the deception would be pointless.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t see that arrow when they are up. Only when they are in a “downed” state. I never try to down a clone because i see the red arrow. Are you sure it’s there when they are up?
