I think its annoying how Mesmer can spam clones or shatter spam. I believe they need a small cool down on them or after like 2 of each they go on a like 5 sec cool down. What is ur guys opinion?

You’ll find them easier as you play more. However, necros will have a harder time against them than some other classes.

No, putting ICD between shatters wouldn’t be good. Instead, SoIllusions active effect should be nerfed so that it doesn’t completely reset the CDs of the shatters, and also IR and Chronophantasma should be changed. But those two traits are necessary until phantasms are changed over to utility summons instead of mesmers main source of sustained damage, so don’t expect any serious nerfs to the traits unless ANet wants to make chrono completely useless.

SoI is dead necessary for survival and you know it. Our major source of condi removal and, to a lesser extent, healing is shattering.

Slow the shatters, kill Mesmer entirely for PvP.

Ori.. you have been advocating for that change to Phantasms. It would require a major rework of the class. I totally disagree with you on it.

Be that as it may, please do not advocate for nerfs that would be a disaster as the class stands.

That being said, the concept that mesmer requires a full reset on its class abilities just to be viable communicates that something is wrong with the balance of said class abilities.

Necro wrecks mesmer when necro don’t get moad and if he does… Its necros play mistake
If you go in shroud vs mesmer expect moa , and D’s does not take away your ability to dodge..

@Ithilwen – and you think that is ok? I 100% believe that mesmer needs a major redesign. Its silly that so much of our damage comes from phantasms. They are single target, take a relatively long time to get 3 damaging phantasms out, and then our primary mechanic (of which you do see that it is a huge source of not only our sustain but our personal damage. Without MW we are dependent on our hilariously weak weapon skills to do power damage, and the shatters themselves are a huge source of our condi stacks for condi builds) undoes all of that work. But, when the mesmer does win the fight, even if they didn’t shatter at all, their phantasms die again.

This is fundamentally flawed design. Just because it would be a lot of work to redesign mesmer doesn’t mean that the class is fine. Chrono was a bandaid to the class. What happens with Mirage? Will it replicate chrono so that our core design problems remain fixed? In that case we will only really get 40-50% of a new elite spec. Or will it leave them unaddressed, in which case it would have to be hilariously overpowered to compete with chrono in any game mode? Whether you want to admit it or not, mesmer class design is flawed and ANet knows it. That’s why 3 of the 9 major traits in chrono revolve around both keeping illusions up and helping shatters land by giving the illusions superspeed. The chrono line has more major traits that fix core mesmer design problems than it has traits that deal with alacrity, its unique effect. Mesmer needs to be redesigned.

Mesmer has experienced a long series of nerfs, some of them extreme. I came in just as the huge glamour nerf was made. Then tried to play during the year + that we were trash tier.

Mesmer design is actually pretty good. The trouble is that almost every play mode has been nerfed into non viability.

I’d love to play a phantasm build. That’s not gonna happen in a pvp environment. Against PvE bosses? Sure but not PvP. The Phantasms are too slow and too delicate.

PU was trashed.

Clone Death was removed entirely from the game.

Interrupt might work for an extremely skilled Mesmer but it’s not generally a thing.

Retaliation was nerfed to uselessness even though that’s one of the first skills taught a Mesmer in GW 1.

Boon Share and Alacrity Support have both been cut back too far to use in most cases.

Power shatter could be a thing with the superspeed, but there’s very little sustain.

ANET has reduced the options to one, ( or two if you are skilled in Power Shatter.) The problem isn’t design, it’s years of excessive nerfs.

The balance team needs to stop reacting to people not knowing how to play against Mesmer and take a more objective approach.

Condi necro can beat mesmer but usually they wait to use the moa when the necro is unable to react. Or when it’s out of dodge.

Mes are fine, the only thing that needs fixing, imo, not nerfing, actually fixing is when clones run at 38210830218308% speed and not register dodges while you dodge into shatter.
While there are quite cheesy aspects of the class (e.g. CS affecting elites), generally it is not easy class to play and i think reward-skill-effort correlation is somehow balanced for mes, in comparison to biggest offenders like DHs and wars.

I would rework confusion to be a condition that impacts targeting not damage this will then also impact mesmer…. But guess this is unlikely to happen.
