Mesmer or Grenadier
Agree, its no fun to play at the moment. A former elitist class got dumbed down to the fullest… You cant hit em because youre either blinded or stunned and while their skills are on cooldown they´re stealthed till they can burst you another time.
Without any stealth they propably would be balanced, but this is a joke atm. And im quite fine in dodging shatters and tracking the real one btw.
I got a group of friends im playing with since release, but most of us are going to take a break for the first time ever till this is fixed! Guess this documents the actual state of balance quite well. We fought through every meta, no matter how bad it was, but this one is the worst by far. Mesmers and rampage everywhere, i call it the stun meta. LoL
You can dodge grenade barrage.
You cannot dodge a shatter while stunned by an insta-cast mantra that can be cast during other skills.

dont keep your hopes up for balance patch. we have 3 years history of ignorance from anet.
Somebody internally must not be seeing what everyone else sees with Mesmers.
They should at least look at the population stats because my friends list went from full near the patch to now even emptier than before.
Few people like getting insta-gibbed, stunned, from stealth and unable to do anything back even if you survive. Maybe others do or think it makes sense.
Mesmer was under powered for years. Now, we can stand and fight. People just need to learn to play, really.

Funny thing is Mesmer is not as under-powered as ranger, and ranger has been in trash-tier for more than 1.5 yr, and post patch they’re still trash tier.
At least Necro got bumped from trash tier to something that can counter the Meta Builds.

I played a lot of different classes/builds since the june 23rd patch and guess what, mesmers don’t one-shot me even on berserker amulet. You guys need to get your head from where it is buried deep and realize that you cannot let a mesmer freecast in team fights. Appoint someone with enough punch to kill it/keep it busy.
1v1 it is even easier, they are extremely predictable.
Of course all of the above would require to actually think and not cry to mommy to help you out with the big bully, which is admittedly easier.

Compare thief and mesmer in their current states. Both have a high burst, both have stealth and blinds. The difference is all the buffs to baseline for mesmer. Mesmer has better defensive mechanics and higher base health. Good ranged weapons, and someone correct me if I’m wrong but atm mesmer stealth lasts longer than thief stealth if traited. And the dazes that seem to last forever.
Granted, their bursts from shatters and illusions are easier to dodge than thieves’ burst (unless the mesmer is bursting from stealth), but they don’t have to risk their health and go melee in order to burst down and kill a target.
Now I don’t want mesmers nerfed to the ground or become useless but it is lame that every game seems to have at least one mesmer, more often it’s 2-4 mesmers. And that’s why I would prefer the Grenadier bug. Not everyone would play engi because of one bug, even when it was going on I still saw engis without grenade kit so my hat off to them.

Not really. It takes an experienced player to dodge the shatters is more like it. But trying to get all your clones spread and then using one button is not skillful. Try a thief, the real Leroy of the current game…

Isnt backstab a single button press and completely non-dependant on having clones?

To be fair, FG was running a marauder engineer build. Prepatch, that was one of the easiest match-ups for a mesmer. What would have happened to a team with a mesmer against a team with two thieves pre-patch? You get the idea.

I’m playing Mesmer PU Shatter these days and honestly it’s really an embarrassing build. Stealth opening + burst combo is almost oneshot for marauder professions, it’s not a single skill like Grenadier but a simple shatter combo everyone can do.
But the concept is the same, burst people for 15k+ from stealth is really too much, and besides this, the profession (and build) is really amazing, super mobility (with portal), incredible chance to disengage (with a super long stealth) and survive (blind, invulnerability, interrupt, teleport and stealth ofc) , A TON of damage, honestly is really too much for a single build.

I was actually talking about survival, not being able to land hits. Thief in its current state is a kamikaze profession.
