One thing stops me using portals in PvP, i never know if i am still in range of the portal.

A nice solution would be a BIG shimering dome around the portal only the mesmer can see. Exactly as big as the portal range, that way the mesmer knows, once i go on the other side of that dome-wall i can’t use the portal anymore

I’d personally like it if Portal became a completely different skill with an offensive nature.

Personally, I think that knowing how far the portals can be put from one another without an UI is a good thing. It makes the battle appealing, it makes having skill relevant and we should not dumb down everything. It was even worse before as we could not see how many seconds were left to drop the second portal. That was way too much restrictive before and now we have a fair usage of portals

It has a range of 6000, so that is going to be one big dome. I would rather see the color of the Portal Exeunt skill icon turn a dull gray or something when you are out of range.

You are pretty much safe portaling between home and mid or mid and far on most maps.

This is something you have to learn from experience on each map, almost like where you can Blink and Phase Retreat to.

PS – allowing opponents to use your portal is a horrible idea. Get your own mesmer.

Don’t place your portal as obvious, there are places to hide the portals on nearly all maps, best so far – skyhammer – jump up

Open it, jump in – jump back – wait 5 sec jump in – trabs shouldn’t be as dangerous anymore – or if you are infight before you jump, F4

Will try this. Most of the time I find blink to be more useful for me though.

Sure it would be big, thats why it would look more like a wall and only the mesmer should see it – others would be more irritated about something like that as it could help them – but it would be an easy solution that looks nice
