I’m actually not playing my Mesmer at the moment due to the new prof’s. I can literally stealth/haste ,myself and my group for 50 seconds out of every minute. 3 friends and I ran around WvW for 6 hours without a single wipe because if anyone goes down I can just perma stealth us for the rezz, or if I go down, my mesmer friend can do the same.
How do you stealth/haste your group for 50 seconds out of every minute? Is this the 30k burst out of stealth posts I’ve been seeing? Something tells me mes is not your main.

PU mesmer can literally kill you in 1sec and do it in stealth mode (hitting for 20k total to 3k toughness opponents), nearly perma stealth mesmer and lockdown mesmer having the stuns gave to him to a point of braindead level.
Of course we need a nerf -.-
Basically daze to stun need to go to interrupt to stun, so it has more counterplay and prize skilled players not make all guys in earth capable of doing a 10k+ (4 hits) shatter burst at demand.
Chaos grandmaster stealth need to be changed, the amount of time its insane, at difference of thief we mesmer can cast illusions and not get out of stealth, plus we have more stealth than thief now -.-.
The damage its a general issue and they alredy confirmed it that way.
Some tunning with base phantoms damage can be made.
Absolutely everything is doing more damage right now. Mesmer just has a few new tricks that will be shaved down at some point because they are now too prevalent. It’s even worse in WvW. Hammer Warriors do 4-5K auto-attacks with almost 7K Reckless Dodges. It’s hilariously broken

I don’t understand why you want to nerf team support (CC/Interrupts), but not DMG.Mesmers in orginal GW were kings of disruption. They could shutdown someone completly without killing him rendering him useless for certain amount of time. Imho thats proper direction for Mesmers for PvP and probably one of reasons why Mesmer will get Chronomancer soon. I believe reducing Mesmer DPS/Burst in PvP is way to go, while buffing his team support and disruptive abilities so he could have his own role in teams and purpose, not just be ‘another’ Thief.

Main diffrences are:
-> Mesmer has better CC/Team support.
-> Mesmer doesn’t need to be engaged into close combat.
= Mesmer is currently Godlike compared to pre-patch Thief.
Its not about competing with thieves in being thieves, its competing in roaming and +1 ing.
Both classes have very similar roles, just different playstyles and different things they bring to the table. Now with this buff both classes are pretty reasonable in their ability to survive and do their job well. Before the buff mesmer was extremely lacking in survivability, especially since thief was all around better. Most mesmers besides those who are good like helseth needed a good team to be able to play well. Now they can rely on themselves more
Mesmer’s cc is very spamable with mantra and the other lockdown traits. I think that could use a bit of a nerf because spamming is not skillful and shout not be part of being a good mesmer. However traits that increase cc’s and throw them back at people are extremely important for mesmers.
Damage should not be nerfed because the class is meant to burst. I mean you could say the same thing about thief. Let’s let them keep stealth but don’t let them backstab. They can blind and immob a foe but shouldn’t be able to instantly kill them….
You shouldn’t try to change their role in teams because that will just ruin the class…more than it was before. It would just be a neutered guardian or engie.

No I have not seen this video but I know that from experience there are incredibly tanky builds out right now. For instance necro, there are lots of them right now that can maintain over 50% DS even after bursting it. If a bunker gets killed in 1 second it’s a l2p issue. I am a mesmer and I get stealth busted all the time and can still survive. Surely a good bunker can too.
If a bunker gets killed in 1 second by a single class, it’s a damage issue. Bunkers should be made to dodge, but they shouldn’t die from a single combo burst they failed to dodge. You’re not a bunker anymore if you can’t even survive that. They sacrifice all their damage, a bunker can’t kill a zerker in a second, regardless what they use or how incompetent the zerker is, it shouldn’t work the other way around.

How to beat de mesmer. Step 1 Become the guardian of burn. Step 2 Burn those kittens back to the place they started from
Tbf the Daze = Stun trait does need change, atm its too easy to repeatedly spam the mantra for a stun then mirrorblade (I’d suggest a longer ICD or only apply stun on rupt).

A bunker before the patch could still be busted down. You can’t just stand still and expect to live from a full combo.
That’s not true. Not in full tank gear. I was running celestial shoutbow at times in pvp, and I could never be bursted down. And celestial isn’t nearly as tanky as sentinel. The strongest burst might drop me to 50%. This is pvp, where damage is limited. Something like this might be possible in wvw where damage has zero restrictions and there are many additional damage buffs(guard stacks, food, higher stats overall)…but not pvp.
This was a single mesmer, without any additional buffs from party members killing a sentinel specced guardian almost instantly.
I haven’t found mesmers too bad on my ranger. skilled ones can pop people for a ton, but theyre killed easily if stun-locked. it’s truly a lot easier now with taunt + hilt bash combo. u don’t play passively or defensively against these guys, u gotta go at them 100%, time your blocks and stun breakers well.

Now all the bad ones are coming out of the woodwork because they couldn’t play it before and now that they’re facerolling on the obviously broken easymode builds they don’t want the class to go back to being balanced.
1200 range instant cast stun that casts twice and immobilizes too. Who the kitten thought of that one.
Well, now people start crying because mesmer is doing more damage than it did in the past and it’s a ‘problem’. Mesmer is a profession that is supposed to be along with thieves a high-burst potential class, it has improved that potential through definite skills. The reason why Confounding Suggestions and other traits that seem “overpowered” have been buffed is because (as playing mesmer for a while now) developers wanted to make the damage and gameplay potential brought out by mesmer not a maybe. What do I mean by this? Firstly mesmer is, if not already one of the more difficult classes to master in spvp/wvw and requires lots of time and practise to perfect combinations. These said combinations can easily fall apart if things are left up to RnG so somewhere a middle ground must be found and mesmers need the ability to have a guaranteed lockdown ability, not a charge into combat and not having it all left up to a possibility. Many of the mechanics of mesmer gameplay are left up to a possibility and is why it made no spot in the previous meta, well maybe now it’s time to let them have a shot at having a slot or core role in tpvp.

I played without Dom/Chaos. I pick up Illusion/Dueling/Inspiration and guess what? i did same thing as i did with “meta” dom/chaos/Dueling. I didnt had any problems to fight and 1shoot ppl. Be more i had better healing and cond removal so i had much better defense(ok mby lack of this stun on daze make it a bit harder to land nuke but still its just ad additional way to play). 6s Stealth is good when you want re enter fight, or when you losing fight to run of. Mesmer will not w8 6s or10 even 40s in fight, when he can kill you… other way he will let you regain CD and vigor, and its not best idea.
Its not PU or Stun on daze that make mesmer op. Its overal buff to dmg in game make things broken.
Atm Mesmer shatter nuke is same as Thiefs, ppl QQ about thiefs… but i play with many Dragons thiefs ( ya i know its not always best show of skill) but they dont have problem to jump on me and basicaly 1 or 2 shoot me in 1s, even if i can do the same(esp. when im not prepared for them ie. they are invi, same as mesmer).
Also Aoe frome shatter is nothink more or less than Guardian or Warrior Aoes whiping 2/3 ppl in 3s. I saw many time how Guardian jumps on 3 ppl and insta kill them.
Condition? Anet instantly nerf them on Mesmer, esp Tormetn bcos 6k ticks on moving target is op, while its 2 weeks of Trappers Ranger insta killing 5ppl at point duo to conditions overdrive, Eles and Gurds stacking 6k Burning ticks every second… And Thief Stacking very long bleeds, poison and not so few Torments,
Now back to Engi bugs on granades. Mesmer get day by day nerfs and no fixs.
And even more!! When Mesmer had insine bug that was abused it get Fixed Asap in 24h!!! And Engis jsut massivly run Granade for 2 days? and propably we will see them even more, and in long turn.

Not at all. To be honest, I love mesmer, so I made it work. That doesn’t mean it was a good situation to be in.
Mesmers entire existence (previously) has been the fact that it has had to work four times harder to achieve the same result as other classes. It doesn’t matter if you want to admit it or not. It’s fact, and the previous meta speaks for that itself.
Mesmers were literally pointless on teams when you could have a thief instead.
Guardians, mesmers and engis are the most broken OP classes at the moment. Anet better do something.
Its just annynoing when you are in pair with others, and bcos of that they want you get nerfed… cos they cant dominate you into oblivion like they used to be. I played Lock down before patch to see diference. And it is, you pay now price for spaming brainless and my itnerrupts can kill you. IF ppl are not aware of that… its not balance issue, its skill issue.
Time changes and ppl should to.
Perhaps the defense of all players should go up? If the defense of all players goes up, burs tier and more damage oriented classes like mesmers and thieves wouldn’t be able to kill you in close to one shot. They would burst their initiative and cool downs so the more tankier people would have a chance. Some of those skills required for thief and mesmer defense have some long cool downs. The problem is, mesmers and thieves should have an equal chance to kill each other if they are at the same skill lvl. Before, this was not the case. Thieves appeared to down mesmers when the circumstances and skill lvls where equal almost every time. Perhaps this would also solve the problem of everyone choosing zerker. The same should probably be said of pve. The classes right now do too much damage for the npcs. I don’t necessarily think this always means we need to nerf the classes. We probably need to up the damage and defense of the npcs to make them much more difficult to kill so the content of the game is at least remotely challenging.

Main problem with a Mesmer is Anet gave them too much important trait baseline
Power lock is only one of the op build but Mesmer has crazy combinations with the new traits.
Mesmer was really strong, Mesmer damage was crazy but had a problem with conditions and thief.
Buffing Mesmer in this way Anet creates a huge beast i think the only way to balance the mesmer is to remove some baseline stuff and reinsert it like traits. Or at least, starting to introduce some good ICD.
It’s really too much baseline op stuff.
Pls do something quickly, we don’t really want 6 months in this state.

There is NOTHING hard about disengaging with stealth, abusing instant cast combos, and spamming evades while you do so.
Mesmer has ALWAYS been a zero skill class. Get that into your head people.

I have more hours on mesmer than most in the game (doesn’t mean I’m a great mesmer just means i have experience with this class.), and I can honestly say that compared to most classes mesmers are only currently bringing good damage and CC to a match. Nothing else really because if a mesmer is running mantra of distraction chances are they aren’t running portal. And a interrupt mesmer has at most 1 stealth.
If the mesmer isnrunning PU than just like before the patch. They are COMPLETELY NEGLIGIBLE and a total hindrance to their team.
If it’s a shatter mes running dom/duel/illus then they can be scary, but no scarier than a shatter mesmer was before in relation to other classes in the game.
And for everyone that’s saying mesmer was “viable” in every other meta ever.

Quite the contrary. He was saying if he outplays them he can beat them pre-patch. Now they beat him regardless how well he plays. And that’s really how it feels. I do some damage to them, they stealth, blow their load on me…And when they come out of stealth they’re magically at full HP…This process repeats itself until I’m dead.
Pre-patch they were one of the best 1v1 classes. Yet they were countered by thieves and had difficulty staying on a point. Both of those problems were remedied after the patch and then some. Now they can one-up thiefs, and because of their seemingly infinite active defenses, they’re both hard to kill and deal a ton of damage. They may not be able to tank on a point but they’ll force you off it real quick.

This is why i don’t want to post here in the forums most of the time people here misunderstand what you mean they just listen to what they want and nothing else is but themselves. Please read the post before this and you will understand and if you don’t then i don’t know what to say.

Ele’s can stack 14 stacks of burning in an actual fight (leading to at the time 5.2k burning tick, hitting over 6k at times with enough might PER TICK with Cele D/D. If you’d like to message me ingame!

Engi on the top? Lolnope, sorry man. Engis are just kitten right now, the only playable build is full-zerker static-discharge since a single necro in a game can totally ruin your life.
Only if they take curses. But then again no one can handle getting a 10 stack of burning on them. Serves the engi right for trying to do that to a necro.
Burning is broken across the board, and the classes with a lot of access to it can abuse it.

I’d still say in my humble opinion Mesmer and Thief are broken. Why? Damage is atrociously unbalanced for basically every class atm. This means taking more sustain/brunt toughness is actually ineffective vs a good spiker on a full damage build atm. A lot of classes rely on this style of defensive, but there are some who don’t. Some with mechanics to mitigate damage.
Think about it, Mesmer and Thief have some of the best (if arguably not the best) mechanics for damage mitigation in the game. Stealth is huge. I will never say stealth is OP, but in the current state of the game, it propels Mesmer and Thief to top status in terms of confrontation. Stealth alone might not be so bad though, perhaps it is their whole setup as classes.
To be frank, I reckon a large portion of the classes above will lose power over the current game atmosphere when Burning+overall damage is nerfed, allowing classes who can’t rely on said mechanics, who must overpower the damage received with sustain/dodges to actually survive in a fight. Devs have already said they plan to do so at some other thread so, here’s hoping.

But we probably want to nerf PU 100% stealth increase because that is just not fun.
I can agree with OP mesmers are a bit over the top and incredibly easy to play now lol. Before the patch when i have 2 mesmers on my team i would sigh, but now even if we have 3 the game is still very winnable, lol. Been playing the mantra interrupt build myself and even with little experience on the mesmer class im still dunking kids.

We had to endure decap engis, spirit rangers, turret engis, s/d thieves that evaded until the cows come home, meditation guards that burp blocks/heal/cleanse whenever they press some key, celestial eles and engis. Mesmers are not OP, they are great 1v1 and that’s it. The PvP in this game is team-based.

The mesmer skill cap lowered significantly with this patch, whether that needs a nerf or the community needs to adjust is a personal opinion.

TEEF is not an excuse, and medi guards with their sustain and blocks? Really? Guardians complaining when you have a heal off cd at almost any given time. Most of those are also insta-cast let’s not forget that.

Mesmer is my least played class, but I don’t see any reason to play anything else (even thief), until it’s rebalanced.
Note that I just want to see some tweaks to the mantra of distraction power block wombo combo. It can one shot celestial and anything squishier right now, all off an instant cast 1200 range stun.
However they choose to balance, please don’t nerf more than one thing at a time.

Its a combination of things. Thief is much easier to predict and the burst isn’t as high(yes there is some set up to mes shatter). Thiefs have to get with in melee range to do any really dmg and it leaves vulnerable which isn’t the case with mesmers. Mesmers can get there interupts off from range and they have easier access to stealth with decoy and torch, its easier to interupt a hs+bp combo.
Also all the clones can clutter up the screen causing it to take a sec or 2 longer to actually spot and target the actually mesmer and with the current pace of the game every second counts big time.
