Meta team comp after trait revamp?
Thief Engi Engi Ele Warr
Thief (100%), Engi, War, (huge buff), Guardian (huge buff)
Last spot subject to changes. (Ele got hit quite hard so idk. For ranger and mesmer, stronghold may be the place for them to shine. For conquest, maybe remorseless GS ranger has a place due to remorseless buff and quick hand)

We don’t know enough yet, honestly.
The ranger lines looked like half the adept traits were just crammed back in there unchanged so they have a full set of traits for the presentation, for example. I smell lots of work in progress on some of the trait lines on all professions, so it’s hard to say, what their final state will be.
As a general rule: Thief will be big.
Thieves have always been about picking three lines, most often choosing two grandmasters in specific and then finding a line to sink the remaining 2 points. Thief will clearly benefit the most from having a third grandmaster, because the grandmaster traits of thief have always been great. Having two former Grandmaster major traits being shifted to minor and master respectively can only help.

1. Bunker/Support D/D or Staff ele; no more celestial
2. Revenant will be the new bruiser
3. Warrior may finally take its place as a viable bruiser instead of being supporty as it is now, and its spot will likely be securred over a second revenant or possibly an engi by its battle standard.
4. S/D or D/P thief going into CS for more damage or SA for OP res support - may depend largely on the enemy shadowstep of revenants which may make res/stomp very difficult - or S/T shatter mesmer.
5. Medi guard, S/T shatter mesmer, or tempest ele (anticipating a viable burst roaming build perhaps 0/6/0/0/6/6[tempest]).
Edit: Oh wait, if you mean before specializations/HoT, then remove tempest ele and replace revenant as a bruiser with a new guardian or engineer build.

That’s just not possible. The way it is now is that you have builds that can fill different roles. It will always be like that simply because winning is easier that way.
Why take a bunker support guardian whose only role is to help in teamfights when you can take a shoutbow warrior who can do that, win 1v1s and solo defend any point.
1. Assassin character (Thief, Mesmer, LB Ranger)
2. Bruiser power focused (Revenant, Guard, Warrior)
3. Bruiser condi focused (Condi Ranger, Condi Warrior, Condi Revenant, Etc.)
4. Cele bunker (D/D Ele, Shoutbow, Etc.)
5. Cele Dps (Cele Rifle, Cele Rev, Cele Axe/Sword Warrior, Etc.)
The builds listed are only examples, new things may come along but that’s what I think comps will begin to look like post patch.

Yet you get brawler defense at master trait, so more condition cleanse. You get 20% damage increase by just pressing F1, dps increase, you get enhanced last stance (free vigor, more duration, balance stance), you get 50% free retaliation up-time by doing nothing (spike armor) to compensate your so-called nerf.
I’ll take the new Warrior over Old one all day.

A whole team with excellent survivability and rez ability. A lot of team buffs, and water blast. A lot of team AoE heal.
I agree that Thief is gonna be big, and ele got hit hard. Fresh Air burst damage nerfed 30%, and without another 20% damage under 33% health. Ice bow is dead. No more Elemental Attunement for d/d. Boons duration gone, so no more high protection up time. Celestial amulet nerfed. I wouldn’t say Ele will disappear, but a lot of fair weather will jump ship to another class.

I play ele, even if i think engi is a better roamer right now, ele fits my play style better. If ele gets bad as ppl are saying, I will just jump to the best roaming meta spec.

The new and improved thief will rekk hovac in new Stronghold mode. Invincible door breaker thanks to stealth, insane mobility, instant down npcs. Thief meta confirmed.
I always like hearing people whine about certain professions before even understanding how stats come into the picture.
idk but i’d really wanna try out:
1. cleric guard with hammer/staff. CC heal cleanse res
2. thief – DA, Trickery, SA venom share
3. lockdown+shatter mesmer
4. engineer blast bot
5. staff ele for field bot or another cc+deeps that can make use of venom share, engi CC and CI mesmer immobs
First off, OP, please, for the love of god, dont cookie cut “the best teams”. I know everyone marches to Metabattle to cookie cut specs but teamcomps too?
Second, my predictions are two Engies, a Mes or Thief, a Medi Guard, and one Support or Bunker.
1) Permastealth PU Shatter Memsers will rule the metagame and be later (a few months) nerfed, damage or PU will take the hit and HOPEFULLY Lockdown will take its place.
2) Thief will be incredibly powerful, if not completely broken. Hopefully we’ll see Acro thieves as opposed to SA. Despite the “holding points” argument, I see SA becoming Popular to win stealth games vs Mesmer.
3) Engineers will continue to reign supreme. They will be the top of the food chain, anti elites, stronger Supp crates, Elemental bazookas (with any luck on Mortar becoming a elemental bazooka) and that’s just the choice of elites. Nade nerf but we might actually see other kits. No counters however.
4) Guard and Warrior become more ‘important" fulfilling a role similar to before. Guard will be a Thief check and GS Warrior should be checking Mesmer post PU nerf.
5) Necros and Rangers nonexistent. You’ll be left with the diehards for these classes. Ranger’s pewpew is confirmed to have a range nerf, this should drive away the 2 spammers. Necromancer got the shaft and wont be around to check Engineer. Lopsided rock paper scissors.

Ranger was actually fine to me despite the necro post depression, I see potential for them in other than power specs some issues remain such as pets not scaling off player stats and that miserable heal on F2 trait but windows are open. Necro is the only one when it felt like they just move this,merge this,buff(meaning no fix to useless core but simply number buff) to this useless kitten. The potential I see for necro is the possibility of the wet noodle terromancer, for MM I’m not sure if the minions will survive long enough to think about attacking,power was just more options no real creep like for others I’m guessing they expect every powermancers to use the elite specialisation. Depression….
I do feel like reporting Death Shroud as bug tough.

Quickness could be turned into Slow, which would indirectly add another condition Necros can use.

I’ve actually been thinking about Necros more and with the new Quickness and Resistance boons it brings to question how much their boon ripping (best in the game) is actually getting buffed.
Berserker Stance, for example, might be giving a long Resistance boon instead of how it currently works, which means a Necro can proc Spinal Shivers, use it, or Corrupt Boon to negate that otherwise huge counter to their condi build. Quickness could be turned into Slow, which would indirectly add another condition Necros can use.
On the other hand, Resistance and Quickness both eat up boon removal slots, meaning it’s an indirect nerf.
As Drarnor said, every single new boon introduced pushes Necromancer away.
It’s not like our removals get a buff or scale up.
Even now, we hardly can pierce through massive boonage and cleansing, being left with “wild cards” and using all our removals at once, most of the times even that is not enough to get to stability, for example.
