You can see there is a kind of a “guide” to show us what we are looking at / were are we going.
Here is how our player’s icon looks on pvp maps.

There’s no guide to show us where are we going, in a pvp scenario where you have to go X point, it would help a lot if there were some guidelines on the minimap to show where are we going.
