I think you’ll have to implent a class maximum in Ranked.

I suggest the 4 minimum different classes per team.
About 20-40% of my losses are due ppl not rerolling or not able to play another class/adjust.

So with that I also suggest to remove the daily class achievement, because I’ve had many in my team and opponents team who never played the class but are “forced” due to achievements.

I think picture below gives you an idea of the problem we suffer at this moment.
This was SoloQ and enemy team had 1 premade with 2, that’s all.

but what will happen if lets say i master only thief. and there are 2 thieves . the other thief also master thief

if we rerole to a class which we dont know it will be bad for the team thus you force ppl to know all classes

The theory is fine, but in practice it would see queue times go through the roof.

2 class stack max per team would be a viable alternative but even then there is no system in place for stopping players changing class anyway.

I dont think its too much for players to know two professions.

My main has been necro for years now, and still I can log on a druid, ele or mesmer, to round out that teamcomp if absolutely necessary. I dont like it, but I can do it.

With those professions, Im not as good as on my necro, but still good enough to make it worth switching.

If you are a really good thief, you should be able to master another professions with a couple of unranked matches.

Class stacking, every day in most matches. Is not just the daily though I think is also the league achievements making people play classes that they don’t know well but yes Is not balanced and game enters you in matches that you cant win

no it won’t, understanding aurashare ele at a basic level is really easy, and you’re better having 1 average aurashare and 1 good thief over 2 good thieves

What if you get into a team with 5 Thieves?

Wouldn’t you be happier with just 2 thieves instead of having the chance to get 5, like I showed in the screenshot?

The question you asked is already reality, it happens almost every match.

It doesn’t need to work, that’s not what I’m saying.

What I am saying is that it’s plain annoying having your team have 3 necros while you’re DH or anything else.

Basically a team with very low sustain and mobility.

I’ve always won vs team’s with 3 or more necro’s just because they’re too easy to outrotate.

While they could’ve won by just having 2 necro’s reroll or… have a minimum class requirement per team in Ranked only.

Dailies being the same for everyone, and having 4 professions only worsens the problem. People doesn’t really spread more for having those 4 options. Most people will always go for the same 3 professions, so if one of the 4 is any of the 3, people go mostly for that one, and spread less if none of the other 4 is any of the 3.

While with achievements to do things like world bosses, events in a map, specific fractal levels and dungeon paths you want everyone to have the same thing, with achievements like PvP professions you want everyone to have different things to increase the chances of having more variety in matches.

Because of that, The daily profession achievement must not be the same for all accounts. They need to implement a system that checks the account’s info and generates “tailored achievements” that are different between accounts. Something like this:

  • One daily picked randomly between the 4 most played professions of the account.
  • One daily picked randomly between the 4 least played professions.

This way someone with the base 5 slots can still do 3 dailies without deleting characters, and the fourth achievement encourages trying things you rarely try.


Also, before limits being added to profession in matchmaking, we’ll need something like a way to ‘register’ professions you prefer to play so more than one of your characters may be used in matchmaking.

For example, you load the characters you prefer to use in PvP, and can register them for matchmaking by talking with certain NPC. You would be able to register one of each profession, and sort them from the profession you want to use the most to the one you want to use the least, and temporarily disable particular professions without removing them from the list. When matchmaking for you, the current current profession will take preference, but if no matches are found for that one, your enabled registered professions are checked, and a different character may be used instead, and the Match Ready panel will indicate that you have been matched as <Profession> instead the current one. You take too long to find matches with your current profession? Maybe too many people is already queued using that one. Try to register more professions, or re-enable more of the ones you have registered but you disabled.

Once such a system is implemented, we will be able to have profession locks, individual profession mmr and limitations in number of professions when matchmaking.

But without a way to queue as more than one profession, such systems would only increase queue times.

Another advantage of having a way to register professions is that we would be able to have a ‘draft’ system for matches, in which teams take turns banning and picking professions. So we could have, for example, a match in which a team bans necromancers, and another team bans elementalists. And the rest have to pick among the rest of their registered professions taking turns.

If we also had PvP build templates, we could have drafts for specializations rather than entire professions, so we could have drafts in which the ban phase is just for partial builds, knowing loading builds is much faster.

i also agree to prevent stacking . but not by forcing ppl

like they do when the map is empty and if you move you get some bonuses

give bonus to the the group which play with no class stacking . it will put pressure on players to change while also benefit them and the group

like more xp or points or money etc…

I agree, there really needs to be a limit to class stacking, no more than 2 of the same class per team (in matchmaking system).

The real reason queue times are so bad right now is because of how many people have given up on PVP for this season due to matchmaking frustrations.

If anet released the data for player volume you would see the strong decline since start of the season.

No they wont. I cant count the time matches were totally off stacked. 2 gd one team and 2 ranger om the other . 2 mesmer with the gd and 2 ele with the rangers. Wont take much mat to move a little around .

With so much class ballance issuses, classes means alot for fair matches.

What Will win. 3warrior+1thief+1gd
Or engi+2 rev+ele+ necr

The biggest problem with preventing class stacks is that no player will be allowed to change class. This limits a bit the preparation of the game.
Say there is no healer in your team. If you want to reroll with your ele (sure you can change your build to become a healer… on a thief xD) then you can’t anymore. If you authorize rerolling then why wouldn’t two people reroll the same class at the same moment….
