Mist League vs Arenanet Discussion
Listen, you don’t even need to watch more than the first 15 seconds of the match where Karl nearly dies to Svanir…

I remember cringing so hard at that part. Miraculously they pulled off a win in Niflheim though, I think it was because they effectively zerged points.
whats the point of this thread? you know, besides cheap mocking on anet
i did think the dev understanding of the meta was commical.
i wasnt surprised the devs lost, as they spend less time practicing the game. it shouldnt surprise us.
i was surprised the devs won some, to me that demonstrates that the better, more practiced team can sometimes lose to concentrated zerg (pun intended). im not opposed to cheese taking a competitive game now and then, such as slings, but I do wonder if perhaps this time it illustrates a lack of depth in the game.
I’m with Ahuba on this one.
I really don’t see any point with this thread.
Is it lame/funny that ArenaNet lost against the community? Did you honestly expect the developers to beat the players?
I couldn’t think of a single game where the developers would actually even get this close.
And of course the developers are aware what the current meta consists of. If they wanted they could have went with a straight-up lame meta comp, but they chose to play whatever they felt like because it was a showmatch.
A lot of teams calling themselves high-skilled would probably have lost to ArenaNet.

I don’t think you should be making excuses for the devs for them.

Do they now? Are you saying that they were trying to lose? They clearly weren’t, and so were playing builds that they thought were good. The developers aren’t gods, sometimes they think something’s good when it’s not, sometimes they make mistakes that they just don’t realize are mistakes and they keep rolling with it, and we end up with terrible “balance” patches. Case in point, actually using Destruction of the Empowered (or warrior in general).
I don’t play much of other classes so I can’t comment on their trait choices, but since so rarely do we get a chance to see exactly what traits devs are running (and thus actually think are viable) I thought a thread to comment on their builds would be pretty good discussion.
That video was a really great showcase of the overpowered warrior downed state. Expect nerfs soon.
Call me cynical but i am under the impression the match was fixed to give a good show and to showcase “viable strategies”.
I did enjoy the podcast very much but i don’t feel the Community team played 100% at all times.
After all – the players would lose face so badly if they lost which i am sure ANet wouldn’t have wanted and likewise, ANet would get smashed for not knowing how to play if they were whitewashed 2-0. Consequently, the “close-match-in-favour-of-players” outcome was the only one possible and to be expected.

so wait, the reason you made this thread and are acting like a jerk is because a dev was using destrucion of the empowered?
Fyi, in a past tournament hman was using destruction fo the empowered on his warrior too, did you make a thread then?

Quick, everyone, put on your tinfoil hats. We’re all being deceived. Seriously, if anyone here has watched the previous tournaments with the top EU and top NA teams (especially where NA got dominated) knows that even in highly skilled match-ups we end up with one team getting dominated. Someone has to win, at least we got a good fight from Anet instead of a 500-50 roflstomp.

I am not sure what you mean – i am not trying to rile up the player base to go charging in with pitchforks and torches… after all – it was a showmatch. I’m sure the play was generally unscripted hence i enjoyed it but i am just suggesting that the result may have been prearranged with agreements that neither team dominate (as you have suggested has occurred previous tournaments)

Devs =/= pro gamers
Anet won the first round vs a top tier pug even though they brought this warrior?
That got my respect…
They really didnt play too well at some points but you dont win vs top tiers by pure accident.
only watched the first game so far twitch buffering takes forever

To make the point that the average hard working person doesnt have time to practice pvp as much as the avg college kid living off his parents playing 6 hours a day, I presume.
This thread is so pointless it hurts
Lol Punkins you made me laugh so hard
I think it’s great Anet did this matchup, shows so much of their attitude. I don’t get why people can complain about this. Good job Anet!
