Wouldn’t it be nice if they NPC’s in the mists ran the FoTM builds (even just went through the most common rotations) to help players better understand how to fight what is considered “OP”.

Not sure how much coding this would take…. but I thought it was a cool idea so I thought I would share.

You have a good idea. It would be like a legends of the mists thing. Builds that have the highest win/points ratio would be recorded. The rotations that go with those builds would be recorded. It would have to be separate from the normal NPCs. They could add a small arena area the has many gladiators with the top builds and play styles. I would use it.

It would be a good start. What we really need is completely redone tutorials. Also, rewarding glory for making good plays would help hotjoin players understand the game a lot.

The devs are struggling to put out minor numeric tweaks every 2~ months…
Adjusting AI… that’d be like utter hell for them.

Mesmer npc is the worst offender: he just stands there and spams 1. No illusions, no phantasms, no shatters. Nothing. Completely different from what you have to fight.

You will never be able to know what an engineer is going to do next…

because he doesn’t know it himself

I always thought it would be cool if you could customize the NPC’s gear, traits, and utilities through a dialogue box, so you can change the build to fit the build that you would like to learn how to fight.

That is a cool idea Forz.

Sadly, I do think that it would be too kitten the devs to do such things. We do lack a solid testing ground imo at least in GW1 we had that island… what was it’s name again…? Which allowed testing for almost everything.

would be interesting to see how effective would NPc’s be with FoTM builds.

would a h/lb warrior and s/d NPc should have a decent win rate? as well as spirit rangers. and it shouldn’t take that much effort to set it up

Then they can add npc-bots to fill in those 4v5 solo-q matches =] Maybe even fight an entire bot team when the queue time is so long.

This does sound like a neat idea OP. Would be great to fight NPCs in the current meta. Though this does seem like a lot of work. There’s only so much an NPC is programmed to do and I can only see it just going on a set rotation of skills that real players may not follow at all. Best you can hope for would be to better recognize what skill they are using. But even that can be helpful.
