Due to family and work I usually only play during the nighttime 12:00AM- whenever my eyes start burning, and I’ve noticed something, there’s a lot of speed hackers on at night. Could be just the games I join or something but during the day they seem to be few or none per session.

My question is, has anyone else noticed this?

I saw one speed hacker and it was about two days after release. Haven’t seen any since then and I play about the same times you do during the week (either early AM EST or late night EST).

I haven’t seen a speed hacker in a week or so. Even at night ( PST ).

Haven’t seen a speedhacker at all and I typically play late at night (EST) from 11PM to… when the big orange thing in the sky starts hurting my eyes.

You guys don’t have an eye for it then. Most of the time they only put on a small speed boost, an easier way to tell is when you DEBUFF them, slow, cripple or chill and they still maintain same speed. That’s sure sign.

speed hackers? I’ve gotten to rank 31 and i haven’t ever encountered one… are you sure you’re not missing a boon or something?

And @Visualize there are a multitude of ways to evade and get out of slows, i mean elementalists have a trait that makes it so all they have to do is dodge to get out of chills and burning.

Checked some of the related boards – always know your enemy – and…there is at least two (one of them being broken atm) available. People also claim, that were would be no automated detection and anet would have to rely on ‘eye-witnesses’ so to speak (I hope this is actually not the case^^).

But I don’t think it’ll have any impact on the game. Most people only use them when solo pveing somewhere to cut some time or mess around with the game for fun (as opposed to applying it in a tourney). And anet will have done their homework and roll out ban waves when the time is right (even bioware managed the speedhacking).

As to op’s sightings – it might very well be lack of awareness/ignorance of game mechanics as well. But as he points out, it might be hard to tell, since you can adjust speed in small increments.

Anyways – if you see something fishy, try to fraps it, if possible, note the time/location and ask around, if there is a legit explanation. If you cannot find one – report.

They could be blowing things like Cantrips (Mist Form, Cleansing Fire, Armor of Earth).

Never seen one.

I have seen a bot farming in Fireheart Rise though. He was teleporting all over the place.
