Most Efficient Solo PvP Role/Class
I would say that the safest choice when going Solo, is taking one of the three Celestial classes: Elementalist (cele ele), Warrior (shoutbow) or Engineer (celestial rifle, 2 kits).
You bring a lot of support for your teammates as long as good damage outcome and sustain for yourself.
However, don’t pick one of those three if there is already, for example, 3 other celestial/bunkers. You will find that your team lacks the damage. In that case just roll something like a Thief, DPS Medi Guard, Power Necro, Pewpew Power Ranger… whatever DPS you feel like. I’d say mostly Thief or DPS Guard, but it’s just my personal preference I guess.
Celestial would focus on two roles: Roaming Speed (not comparable to Thief, but fairly good in the three builds) and Bunker (with damage in this case).
Zerker Thief: Single Target Damage, Roaming Speed and Decaps.
DPS Medi Guard: Single Target Damage and argably some sort of support coming from Virtues (looking at the Hammer meta build there).
Again, this is just my opinion. Hope it helps.

Thanks! Looks like it’s towards more than 1 role at a time. Makes sense…maybe specialization is a luxury of premades since they have an assured team composition…?
The easiest way to help your team win is to play a shout bow warrior. Tons of support and a banner to help those who die too quickly in the team fight.
I am a terrible warrior player but still have the highest win ratio playing this spec.

doesn’t have to be shoutbow, shoutheal warriors are great in general. cele, clerics, valk, whatever- as long as it uses soldier runes and has healing power it rocks. it’s tanky with solid damage and heals your teammates while cleansing conditions (life saver for engineers, thieves and other low condi clear builds). you make your team significantly more durable and win more midfights. you ensure your team will always have a solid point holder and support character.
currently a Boyfriend main :P

Just don’t play a Necro and you’ll be fine.

Basically, play anything but a home point holder. Basically, playing ranger or necro in soloq is a guarantee you won’t do much for your team.
Playing thief or mesmer is also super risky. You will be forced to switch one game out of two, and even when you do play mesmer EVERYONE WILL IGNORE YOUR PORTAL! As a thief, you can take decisive decaps if you are in a good pug, but if you are in disorganized game (I hate those), where points are constantly capped/decapped, you won’t be very useful.
Your best bets are probably shout bow warrior or celestial/condi engineer.
Always play a shoutbow if you soloq. Can’t really go wrong with that. You can be immortal in 1v1, and survive for a long time in outmanned fights, then become a support god in 4v4.
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.

That is, if you don’t die of boredom after the first three minutes.
Well, in my extremely biased opinion, you can’t go wrong with the meta ele or engi. They’re always helpful to have on your team.

This
And they fit all roles on the fly
DPS/Bunk/Peel/Ect..
I would have said turret engie weeks ago but they got nerfed lol but anyways you can’t go wrong with the celestial classes. You can play berserker dps like medi guardian it’s okay but I prefer them more in a premade team, you will get much better results with a shoutbow warrior lol
Power Ranger. Longbow/wolf/hound and GS as secondary. Here’s your ticket to the bandwagon. rotation: point bank shot → rapid fire → pet immob, fear or [entangle] → if immob barrage else auto attack until the immob comes up again.. throw a hunter’s shot in there now an then to untarget yourself. any noob can win.
Hi,
If intended for SoloQ, I think that you should:
- Avoid classes which, when stacked, reduce the overall value of the team (no thief, no mesmer),
- Avoid non-meta classes (no ranger, no necro),
- Avoid support classes, because if you need to carry your team, you may not be playing around them, especially if they don’t rotate well, or fight off points (so no warrior, no guard),
- Favor celestial gear, because you want to maximize your options during a game, and celestial setups offer just that.
So I’d say elem or engi. Now, if you’re strong with a particular class, then just disregard and go for it! A strong player always brings value to the team, whatever the class or build.
Regards.
Pretty much what everyone has said, pick Warrior, Ele, or Engi and stick with meta builds.
Either class, with the exception of shout warriors, are stackable. If I had to choose I would pick Engi simply because they have a more fun play style than finger-cramping ele’s who spam through their skills like clockwork. That’s just my opinion.
But if they don’t fix the leaderboard soon then it’s not going to matter… just play 20 games a day and you’ll be top 25 =\
Rank: Top 250 since Season 2
#5 best gerdien in wurld

The Dhuumfire thread
Let’s be honest, it all depends on your teammates and opponents anyway. Obviously, it’s safer to play point holder/bunker than zerker, since it’s avoiding the risk to have 0 point holder in a party which is quite a handicap, but i don’t believe it will have such a big impact.
Shoutbow.
For soloquers and 0 team coordination, cele rifle is the strongest option (more consistent performance) right now
Thanks! I’m checking out the shoutbow spec and playing around with it
Let’s say I only solo in PvP and never form a team. Which role in your opinion gives the statistically highest chance of contributing to a win? This will influence which class I take.
Do I focus on:
1. Single Target Damage – but fail against bunkers who sit and soak it up
2. Roaming speed – to help unbalance fights quickly in different places
3. Bunker/Decap – push people off points, not die to any single person, but die to more than one individual. No damage.
4. Huge AoE – to apply pressure on as many people as possible.
Of course, we can also have hybrids who by definition won’t be the best at any single role. Which in your opinion are your best options?
Engis fit these criteria pretty well:
1) Single target damage – Well…they’re ok here. Not amazing, but good.
2) Roaming speed – They won’t match a mesmer, thief, or war with a GS, but with Speedy Kits, you easily get 100% swiftness with very little expense.
3) Few classes decap as well as a well played engi and cele/condi amulets allow you to be pretty tanky to bunk when needed as well.
4) Few classes can spam AoE like an engi.
If we start talking team PvP, then engis aren’t as obviously well equipped since team synergy easily offsets any weakness a class/build brings, but when you get into solo queueing, hybrid builds tend to really shine and few classes fit this as well as engis.
However, I’d say that shoutbow and medi guard are also great choices.
i will sat ti you find a class and a build that you really like be really good ta this and always you will be helpfull to ur team
I play all 8 classes regularly and most solo. 7 are close together. By far the best Win% has my Power Ranger, which is almost 20% more than any other.

1) Do you play with a regular team? Or just PUGs?
2) How do you handle being long range “insta stolen” and snared by thieves?

I doubt that you are a master at all 8 classes and would wager that a good deal of your success is due to how easy Ranger is to pick up and play compared to other classes. Being able to deal great burst damage at range and having simple rotations allows for most to pickup the class and do ok in PVP.
Other classes require more practice/skill before you can achieve similar results.

Nah, power ranger is a really solid build for solo PvP. It’s not an issue of low skill cap. This is true, even of strong players.
