I have to agree with this statement. Everyone flocks to it after any tournament and see what one team ran as a group and think it’s the next big meta.

I can’t tell you how many Guardians I’ve ran up against that are now Hammer Glacial Heart. They’re so ridiculously easy to kill (as a Mesmer) that I’m kind of glad it’s listed as the Meta for Guardian.

Turret engi. I’ve noticed that when there’s an engi on the opposite side, my pug calls for focus fire on the engi. i say good, force them to play another class. Or let him rot on the home point while you 2 cap and 5v4 his buddies. either way makes the class useless.

Thats the best part of being a good turret Engi. Win a fight (I even press far with my Turret Engi) and as SOON as its over, pick up your turrets and take off. People will expect the turret engi to stay there, go help middle, spread some boons and CC, really messes people up.

+1 For Turret Engies who realize picking up turrets reduces the CD by 25% and knows when to move!

Haha, I play a Mesmer with Moa. Everytime I Moa someone, they almost always say some pretty rude things. I guess people don’t like being turned into… chickens.

Every time someone uses Moa on me in 1v1, I think they must be pretty desperate. There’s nothing better than pecking someone to death.

I keep people saying that. Does it ever work? Because every time someone runs at me and tries to peck me to death, i can kill them but if they run away, they might just survive.

Greatsword mesmers. Their ranged, piercing, never missing beam going through any and all obstacles is op. That thing needs a nerf bat now. Don’t believe me? Find me a non GS using pvp mesmer. I’m pretty sure the number of those is very small.

Shoutbows

1. Turret engies…there are usually 1-2 on the other team per-game, and its pathetic how strong they are for how easy they are to play. It takes a LOT of skill to outplay them, and only afk-level skill to play them well.
2. Longbow rangers, not because they are OP, but because their 2k+ range is incredibly lame, especially when combined with air/fire.

3. Tanky, high-damage/high-sustain builds, including medi guard, cele ele, cele engie, and shoutbow. These aren’t as bad because they at least take some semblance of skill to play.

It seems everyone flocks to these incredibly easy-to-play specs that have unreasonably high reward for very low risk. Turret engies in particular kind of ruin this game and usually make me stop queueing. It’s really frustrating to watch someone play so unreasonably bad and still be so successful with this build, and you can’t even fight them unless you have one of very few builds. In fact, many of the builds that are good against turret are pretty bad against cele engie, and both engie builds are very strong. This leaves you with a coinflip as to whether your game will even be fun or you will be useless.

My post called “please nerf turrets” has just been deleted. I think it speaks for itslef. I seriously don’t get why ANet doesn’t react, everybody has been complaining about turret engies for months and nothing is happening besides the engineers breeding. They seriously ruin my fun, it’s stupid how an AI build is impossible to beat in a 1v1.

Decap engies hold a special place in my list of people to murder too.

Based on my experience, i’m pretty sure it’s Decap Engies and Turret Engies.

You sit at 2000-2500 sniping 4k auto attack. Aids engis dont have that.

We seem to get an increase to our range daily. At this rate we will be maxing out at 3000 range by Friday.

I am stuck between the pew pew ranger build and turrent engi.
I think I hate ranger more then engi at the moment. Mainly because I think that if played by players completely new to the class a turrent engi can be more supportive to a team. Where as ( It could also be because today is ranger day) I have seen a lot of pew pew rangers who will, once any one capable of standing on a point is dead they will slowly inch off the point allowing the enemy to get a free cap while they wait for their skills to come off cool down. They do not seem to realize that they have a secondary weapon which can be used in order to get into melee range.
(lots of pent up rage here because of a lot of lost games due to having 3+ rangers in the team who would not enter the point)

You can’t block traps. You don’t know when stealth classes are going to jump you or if they just ran off. Most condi classes focus on just tickling you with constant weak hits to keep their application up while they dump the rest of their traits/runes/sigils into evading. Ever faced a SA condi thief who knows what he’s doing? Or a condi mes? Hell, I’ve tried running a burn guard with a focus on CCs and most fights just up and ended while I was BLOCKING. I’m no thief or mesmer enthusiast, but I feel bad for them when they’re trying to setup really cool combos only to hit my wall of blocks and then burn themselves to a crisp.

TL;DR condi builds rely on condis to deal damage, therefore they find ways to make sure their condis are constantly being applied. Since they can PASSIVELY damage you, they can ACTIVELY focus on surviving.

+1 Pew Pew Rangers mostly can’t bunk at points. It’s like asking thief or GS mesmer to stay on point to defend. Yet people are still crying about power ranger being OP? What is wrong with the community? It’s one of the most disadvantageous builds in PVP!

Fresh air is anything but unfair. What kitten build could you possibly be playing that would make you hate a fresh air ele?

I dont think it is unfair.
The burst just catches me by surprise especially when I thought I had the upper hand most of the time.

Unless you’re getting +1’ed by the fresh air, you SHOULD win a 1v1 unless you’re absolute paper.

Cele engi is possibly the most annoying build in the game. Tons of cc, and the unavoidable burn proc, along with high power damage, and high sustain is rediculous to fight against.

AI Builds! Any build that uses no skill but to press a button and let the game play for you… Got me so upset im banned for a few days ! lol

Conditions do damage over time that a power would do instantly. It sounds like you have a bigger issue with stealth. There are plenty of power thieves who shadow tank people in wvw, which would be more common in conquest of stealth didn’t have as many drawbacks, just the same as condition thief. Conditions were still landed on you regardless and it is just as hard to predict a backstab.

Mesmers on the other hand are broken with conditions. Illusions don’t use your base power for damage (they hit 4-10 damage) but conditions they leave are full, that’s a design issue behind mesmer, not conditions.

Traps, they are thematically unblockable, but they’re not the only unblockable attacks. That said, they can still be evaded which is they key take away. The only class unblockable has a substantial effect on is guardian, but it’s okay to have counters. The bigger issue with traps is that they’re pretty un-noticeable until it’s too late (hence trap) which again, isnt a condition issue. You hate traps…

You’re using examples of why you hate conditions but the only reason these condition builds are a problem is because of the mechanics tied to them. Free roaming SA power thieves would likely be just as annoying. If all clones did full power damage you’d hate them too.

For the most part condition builds require landing hits just like any other. You are upset with some mechanics, which is no fault of conditions themselves. If you ever ended up dying from excessive stacks of conditions, it only feels like you passively died, but you made bad steps wrll in advance to get covered that much, the effects are just delayed.

Turret Engi. Sucker build.

I don’t consider anything inherently “hard to play”. Im just saying on ranger you can sit on a ledge 2,000 range away and hit 2.5k auto attacks on someone all day. You literally spam 1 and 2 until someone comes to chase you. Pretty effortless…

Honestly fine, it’s just the shortbow I have a serious (maybe even unjustified) issue with. Animations seem so similar, so centered around its auto attack, single target slow ticking condi’s without the ability to bomb. It’s just so… bland…

The turret damage trait is already competing with the turret bubbles trait for that grand master slot. That would make 3 grandmaster traits in the same line all for turrets. Which begs the question, why on earth does a single utility type have 3 grand master traits associated with it in the first place? That has to be some sort of record.

Turret engi and power rangers. Sure, thieves are annoying, mesmers as well, hell any class can be. But if you try thieve you know its not just press 1 button and go. Ranger has crazy range and heavy dps while at it + a pet.

Celestial classes, so much reward for such little risk. They basically choked out build diversity. Sure, they aren’t Turret Engie or MM Necro, but its kitten close, if anything Im more mad people think these high sustained are “highest skill cap” like the last Flavor of the month spec was the “highest skill cap”.

AI builds obviously are a problem. But they cant chase. Its when people start using these builds and trash talking it becomes an issue. but in reality something has to be wrong with them outside the game to make them do that.

I am conditioned to dislike Thief in general because I like playing Shatter Mesmer. Pewpew Ranger is starting to fall in here too, its no fun thinking I outplayed them only to get chain CC’d into rapid fire.

medi guards so boring and easy to play, yet so much more effective than shout guards for spvp

Turret engi needs a nerfhammer. too many turret farmers at the top of the leaderboards shows it too. Rewards players with too good win rate for no skill required. Turret have players with 72%-75% win rates. the worst ones are also like 55%

Thief stealth and fight reseting very high burst very annoying i cant regen back health that fast and he again on me with full health. my skills on cd after he reset. this was the best and most annoying thief i ever meet.

Mesmer with its very high burst and lockdown.

- AI builds: pvp is player vs player, not player vs pet
- any engi build, really any – too much of everything, anet favorite child since 2013
- dd ele – too much drooling, too little risk for high reward
- nightmare rune (idc which class/build): 0 counterplay besides random stability
