Pve and pvp in the same game mode, awsum ?
ANet wants to promote E-sports, so they decide to keep making Living Story

I agree I do not care about PvE.
If you ask others, they’d tell you ANet spends too much time and effort catering to the whims of PvPers as it is. The PvE players significantly outnumber the WvW players who significantly outnumber the PvP players.
I’d tell you to get in line, but you guys keep butting ahead of the WvW players.
Please rename topic to:“I don’t care for PvE”
If most of “us” are PvP players you know, I can quote the same about my PvE players I know.

I bought this game because i got impresion when they were marketing it before release, that it will be pvp based game, pve would be just side stuff. Surprise that wasnt the only thing we/i was missled so meh.
If this PvP thing can get better i think they must completely seperate it with main game (also developers). Why do i have to do dungeon story for reward track? Why do reward track give me mostly pve crap? Must say i miss old glory system, was MUCH better and at that time if you saw a player with awesome armour, you knew it had high rank and was quite hard to get there.

This thread was created second. Give it time. Other factors:
People are more likely to respond when angry, and this is the PVP forums, so of course the PVP thread will rile more people up. If one were to post “Most of us don’t care about pve” in the general GW2 discussion I think you’d have a pretty big response if it wasn’t locked right away.

IIRC the “don’t care about PvP” thread used to be in the general subforum; I do not know why it was moved to a subforum where people do care about PvP.
If you create a thread " All of you are stupid" you will get more answers as if you create a thread " all of you are smart". Doesn’t mean that the community is stupid
Why does ANet continue to push PVE when most of us PVP?
Just imagine how all of that PVE development money could have spent on the content that matters to most of us.
Depends on who you are talking about when you say ‘us’.
Ask Anet for the metrics (before they brought in pvp class based dailies) of how many players play pve, then wvw, and way in the distance third, pvp.
If they had bothered to ask what would bring more players in to pvp, they might have found HoH, GvG, aspenwood, etc were people’s favourites- this 5 man, 3 cap point formula gets old real fast.
ahahahaha get rekt scrub, no one cares about your stupid minigame.
Haha this post and counter-post crap is going to far!

You think WvW players are more than us? It’s possible, but that I don’t know how you could possibly tell. What I know is that 2014 was overall a good year for pvp (especially the april patch that made it so much easier to get into and rewarding), so if they are more people in WvW, I hope that in 2015 Anet gives them at least a new map.
Edit: I forgot that EotM came out in 2014, so there’s that, even if it’s know mostly PvDoors

That is SO laughable that you think PvP is even close to as popular as WvW (on a serious level).
In their pvp tournaments where they are TRYING to give away real money and gems they get like 6-8 teams (lol) aka about 40 people. 40 PEOPLE.
I can log on to my server WvW TS at any time and there will be more than 40 people raiding. Even in the middle of the night. And my server isn’t top tier.
Last Friday there was queues on every WvW map and IN TS we had about 200-300 people in PUBLIC RAIDS. With 5-6 other guilds running their own raids.
It is comical to suggest anything other than WvW is a HUGE success, and PvP is a joke.

I dunno what you are all talking about you really just don’t understand the intracacies involved in higher tier corner sitting while simultaneously pressing 1….
@rosicky I’m sure more people would play in the tournaments if they had time. I know I would be trying to play in them if they weren’t conveniently only on days where I have to work every kittening time. WvW is easy just log on hit wvw and your in pvp takes a little more setup and I think people are a little skittish since they can’t just hide in the zerg in pvp.

every time i go to a pvp match (around prime time) i recognize most of the names and its like 2-4 different groups rotating around each other… dont think theres even 100 playing simultaneously, if u dont count custom games ofcourse… the real pvp train left during the first few months of the game.

I haven’t PvE’d in quite a while, usually just to open containers that were incorrectly set not to open in the lobby. I’m usually doing solo ranked, unless someone asks me to party.

Yes those darn containers!
Why? Cuz casuals.
I got this game based on the marketing pushing balanced skill based PvP centric gameplay to the level of esports. Inherently with 8 classes, and at best 2-3 meta builds I expected starcraft level balance not MOBA style…
But I’m not that upset at PvE. Because I realized even if GW2 had more resources to push into PvP, we’d still get the same design choices that are akin to LoL releasing a new champ. Diffrence is we take half a year to nerf.

If by “us” you mean GW2 players as a whole, then most of “us” don’t actually PvP! PvP is TINY! And in that tiny, tiny playerbase, a large chunk is just bad PvE/WvW players who just PvP for their daily!

Most players do PvE, why? Cuz PvP2Leet
After a couple weeks they still get rekt and instead of trying to get better, they leave.
1: 1/2 the reason of being rekt is lack of knowledge(what they should be doing).
2: 1/2 the reason is bringing in their PvE build and skill rotations to PvP thinking it will be OP (Can be referred to reason 1).
3: See reason 1
4: PvE tells them they have to play a certain way to be good/ viable. Their now new knowledge and expertise in ‘combat’ is not valid anywhere else.
5: See reason 3
6: See reason 5
7: Players then trash talk to them because they did not do their homework first. Aka (See Reason 6)

Theres definitely way more PvErs then PvPers.
and people like me who do both.
a lot of good PvPers do living story as well as run dungeons from time to time.
The PvE is what makes this game.
PvP (apart from WvW) almost seems like an afterthought of the devs, there’s not even a dedicated 1v1 system – just 5v5 on the same 4 maps.

The only reason most of us bought GW2 was for its pvp, and if you have played other mmos it would be obvious that this game was built from the ground up for pvp; in fact most of the criticism I read about GW2 in other game forums is from pvers complaining about a lack of “roles” and everyone being “dps”.
GW2 is a pvp game with pve tacked on.
PvP is small compared to WvW and miniscule compared to PvE. The whole gameplay style of pvp, small teams fighting over who gets to stand in small capture points, is pretty distinct from the majority of the game. It’s a gimmicky game mode by comparison.
That pvp has the lead when it comes to game balance is an affront considering how small the playerbase is, how changes affect pve and wvw far more and how far removed the playstyle is compared to the rest of GW2.
Separate pvp into its own little bubble of game balance because I’m sick of having changes that have nothing to do with balance in pve or wvw rammed down my throat by a small pvp community. Then arenanet can buff and nerf to the pvpers hearts content without bothering the rest of us.
I’m tired of having to change runes and sigils in my gear or worst replace entire sets that cost me a lot of time and/or gold to get, at the whims of pvp players who can simply pick all their stuff up for free.
And if its not fun to play anymore that i have to change to another profession i have to level one from scratch through the terrible NPE and awful trait overhaul. While pvp players just step in the mists and free lv80.
The people who are least inconvenienced by changes shouldn’t get to be the one’s whose opinions are taken most seriously when considering these changes.

Absolutely False. This is a PvE game with PvP as a by-product.
If this was a pvp focused game you’d have 1v1/2v2/3v3 type game modes, in game esl tournaments or equivalent, a proper leaderboard + ladder system…. that’s just for starters.
Simply put, the player base isn’t there. Would there be a higher player base if these were added? Maybe, but then again, PvE wouldn’t be nearly as good either… it’s a give and take.
This game’s PvP is still one of the best out there.. so i can’t complain too much :P

I’d like to completely disregard PvE but I WvW and PvP. Unfortunately the rewards in terms of money in either is rather meager so PvE = moneys and story. If the rewards get upped for WvW/PvP then PvE will only ever exist for some story to change up the pace.
My opinion aside, I certainly don’t think the PvP community is as small as people make it out to be (especially since WvW is a kind of PvP) however we are still in the minority. so saying “we don’t care about PvE” is pretty false my friend. Gimme some better PvP rewards or the old armor skill system back and you might convince some more people.
I play both PvE, PvP and WvW. I enjoy the whole game..(but specially PvE)
Now…what’s wrong with that?
BTW, If you do such a statement as “Most of us don’t care about pve” at least care to support it with numbers and stats collected through a well done survey…otherwise it can’t be taken seriously at all…

The first thread was posted in the General Discussion (“PvE”) subforum and got its attention there. Why it was moved to PvP section – no idea (because it contained “PvP” in the title? similar things happen quite often, threads get moved/merged based on the “trigger” words in the title and not the actual contents), but it was, and now the attention of the local inhabitants moved from the “click-bait” thread to a “support your game mode” thread.

PvE players buy more gems and fund development, just be thankful they exist otherwise there would be no PvP.
I don’t mind pve content at all I will not play it anyways so… I just ignore it. As long as it makes pve players happy and spending money to keep the game alive, any pvp content is a “bonus” although it makes things worse then they are more often then not…

I don’t think the difference is as big as you think it is. I imagine that the majority of gems bought will be for cosmetic reasons (new skins, makeover kits). Also PvP players probably have more reason to buy gold with gems since they are less likely to farm for say, a legendary.
Svanir Appreciation Society [SAS]
The harsh truth is that there are far, far, FAR more PvE players than PvP players. The introduction of reward tracks got more people into PvP, but a lot of those (including me!) are mainly there to farm reward tracks, either because they are a faster way to the rewards we want (dungeon skins), or they’re the ONLY reliable way to the rewards we want (e.g. Fossils, the Rime Rebreather). If the reward tracks weren’t there, we wouldn’t be in PvP at all.
ANet’s hope is that by having reward tracks there is that some of the PvE’ers will go, “Hey, PvP is actually pretty fun!” and end up staying, thus injecting new blood into the PvP circuit. And it DOES work, but only a fraction of the PvE crowd will do so. It’s just the law of statistics, I’m afraid.
