My thoughts on the PvP in "Guild Wars" 2
well said! +1
The only classes worth playing are the ones who can sit on a point and hold it. (Guardian, Warrior, Ele, Thief, and Engineer)
Thief sits on points?
You should play more than make your “review”

Thief is better for capping, but I can sit stealth on a point and kill anyone who comes to take it unless there is more than 2 people. I main Thief, so maybe you should play more Thief.
Sounds like you want GW1 PvP.
Serious question, why not just go play PvP in GW 1?

Because GW support team takes forever to reset someones password. Like over 2 weeks forever. Also. I’m sure GW1 PvP is dead. I don’t want GW1. I want better PvP. It’s a pretty simple thing. Who wants to run Domination all day? Like Domination is the least skilled PvP you could do. All you need is a full team with mics. Boom. You win. Communication is all that is needed. “I have 4 here in Mid, you guys go cap far and home”
“I have 3 in far, 2 in mid. 3 Go mid, 1 go home.”
Its so stupid easy, that when you hotjoin matches, your team doesn’t want to cap, instead they just want to kill people.
Why not give them what they want? Make something like Random Arenas, where the only job you have is to down your opponent.

Did you just say you stealth on points?
Before today you have no posts
I will conclude that I have played WAY more than you – the stealth comment alone is enough for me to make this conclusion

I just have a higher expectation for Anet is all. Instead of improving on the second game, I feel like they tried to take a step forward, then went 2 steps back. They tried to follow suit behind other games in MMOs instead of keeping their general uniqueness that has kept some of us GW fans around for 10 years.

I didn’t say cap stealthed, I said hold the point while being stealthed. Time played doesn’t mean skill.
Why do so many people sit on the name “Guild Wars” and use it incorrectly all the time.
If GW1 was one of your favorite games, then you would know why the game is called Guild Wars, and not try to shoehorn GvG into it simply because of the name…it is a Lore thing :/
It seems like you’ve got those nostalgia goggles on. I mean… You know there’s this thing called WvW? It’s basically AB but kinda bigger. Try it out.
Regarding your recipe for PvP success, can you please assemble your 5-man team with full comms and win WTS in Boston pl0x. If you don’t, I’ll assume you must be really awful if it’s so “stupid easy”.
Also, rangers have plenty of conditions and 2 interrupts. Heck, one of their elites is an AoE condi bomb. Point blank shot is a 15s CD knockback (which interrupts). Shortbow also has a daze.
I think you’re just trying to find issues because you want to play Guild Wars but there isn’t much community there so you’ve come here but it’s a different game entirely. Just my 2.

While some of the things you said is legit, there are other things that I clearly disagree with.
Lack of game modes. People have been shouting for a team death match for a long time, thinking that it would be good, it gets released and everyone realizes how BAD death match is for a game like GW2.
ArenaNet knew it, all this time they knew how bad a death match would be
Comparing it to League of Legends, having more objectives than just fighting makes a world of difference.
What Guild Wars 2 NEEDS is a DOTA-style PvP or GvG. Pushing your minions to the enemy Guild Lord for victory, it NEEDS objectives for it’s maps.
Also, communication does not mean victory, far from it. Any high-tier player can tell you that.
In a 4v4 fight in mid, as soon as my team gets one kill on the enemy and my team members are in good health. I leave.
Victory is assured mid and I can rush back if I do see trouble, the fact is, I’m not needed anymore at mid, I can be more useful somewhere else.
Good communication is helpful, but what separates the scrubs from the pros is to trust your allies to win their fights. I don’t need to say I’m leaving to do that.
You can’t jump in gw.
Condi & DPS Ranger, Spirit Guard
You obviously don’t seem to understand why rebranding something is bad.
Well said.
I’ve always thought WvW was the real pvp for this game. I consistently see way more people on WvW than pvp, that is no coincidence.
Pvp NEEDS more modes. I still play conquest, but not as much as when I used to. I say ‘need’ to be realistic. Any modern mmo, let alone GAME needs more than one competitive mode if it wants to keep players. That’s just the way it is. I’m sure Anet knows that.

This game has one of the best MMO RPG PvP around. With this game’s build diversity, it’s pvp balance is simply on a different level.
As a concept design, Guild vs Guild may or may not have been Anet’s attempt @ end game. The lore however, suggests that there’s factions vs factions, hence the name they picked.
In short, this game’s lore takes after the first.. hence the “2” after “Guild Wars”

I would like to join this topic by saying this.
In Guild Wars 1 I`m sure that if we split PvE and PvP by the amount of users involved it would look like 80 to 20.
Guild Wars 1 was a great game because till it`s release no one knew about that and the designers made a game to suit both PvE and PvP. That`s why the core Guild Wars 1 was in some way balanced – melee, anti-melee /necro/, caster, anti-caster /mesmer/.
When they started working on Guild Wars 2 the designers had the upper information, and they asked themselves the question. Who is paying for the game? PvE is paying for the game. For the weapon and armour skins, for the quagan backpacks, for the griffin mail carriers.
That`s why Guild Wars 2 is 95 PvE and 5 PvP.
I`m sure that there is a way to suit those 5%.
I hope that there is a way.
While I haven’t played pvp in GW1, I have played the pve side. I much prefer GW2 combat and skills.
I did like that all classes could carry all weapons. Would love to be able to play the “classic” Mesmer that was allegedly so fearsome.
