Stealing the glider idea from Archeage – Kappa

But why no game mode that’s small scale of 5 players and under? The majority of the pvp community have been just begging for another game mode for years that’s competitive, small scale, and not conquest, and not revolving around holding a point or standing within a small vicinity.

Agreed I’m actually excited about killing floor, and I’m not really a fan of zombie games for the most part.

Glider has been in WoW for 3 years now. If anything, your puny grindy Archeage has “stolen” it.

And I’m actually happy about those in GW2. I really liked gliders in WoW. I just hope that we will be free to use them from any place in Maguuma, not pre-set ones.

This game would be wonderful if it had 2v2 and 3v3. In fact it’s the missing link thst keeps me playing GW2 as much as I would. The lack of healers but everyone has self heals is the exact reason TOO have arenas. Healers did nothing but make games way too long. GW2 has rezzing, stomps, self heals and are perfect length, especially for a best 2 out of 3 system. Gw2 has 2v2 tournies which are AMAZING.

I’m super sad that after all the community push to make 2v2s happen that it’s still ignored. The community made 2v2s happen weekly and it’s just brushed off as a non-concern. It’s a gold mine. People like to PVP with fewer friends becuase it allows for more flexibility and “pick up and play”.

It depends on HoT will be available for everyone or only if you buy HoT.

I see 3 scenarios:

1)In SpVp, new specs, profs are available to everyone. You don’t need to buy HoT. Conquest and Stronghold will have new specs and classes.

3) You can play Stronghold only if you buy HoT. New specs and profs only available in Stronghold but not in conquest.

3) New specs and profs only in PVE and not in spvp.

I know. I wasn’t sure I wanted to play this game early on because it had swords, stavesand bows. I was like man, they really ripped off everything ever made, ever. Probably the exact same game as WoW, final fantasy, Ever quest, DaoC, and the same thing as real life.

Some cool stuff with this xpac so far but how in the world is Anet going to be able to meet the balancing demands with the current classes and builds, what ever their hero version class would be (ranger able to become druid for ex.) and the new class. It takes them 6+ months for balance updates now for 8 classes, with soon to be 17 classes will balance and class updates only be a once a year thing?

With that really being my only concern really looking forward to the new game mode, I am a big fan of Mobas so this is looking like a fun option.

actually, adding new class specializations and a new class could be a way to CREATE better balance rather than disrupt it, IF that is the route Anet chooses when creating the skills, traits, etc

what I mean by that is the ‘new things’ could be specifically designed to counter what is currently OP.

but we all know they will be designed based on PvE first and foremost so most likely we will see some strange meta shifts upon release and 3-6 months after that we will start to see balance changes and blah blah blah so on so forth

except that courtyard could be considered an arena and players can choose to do 1v1s 2v2s 3v3s and so on and so forth.

If they do it right and we have 5 dedicated ones for each trait lines it could bring a soft balance not available at normal class level without having to break their every 6 months balance routine.

Expansions are nice with new stuff to explore until well it becomes old and we are still banging our heads against 6 mo balance changes, bug fixes, and updates. You cannot simply apply a band aid without first addressing the underline issues that the players already have with this game. Two things are going to happen. One: The players who waited for 2 years for changes and never seen fundamental changes have lost trust and will not come back. Two: The players who still hope will be overjoyed with new stuff that they forget about all the crap, until the “newness” wears off. Please tell me that I am wrong and there will be faster updates, fixes, and balance…For PvP of course.

Yeah, going to have to wait this out and see how they do it. The way I keep seeing it played out is not exactly this great thing that they seem to think it is. On one hand you have an updated Ranger, complete with all the old traits, weapons, and utilities along with all the new things they’re adding with the specializations. Then on the other, you have a completely separate class with their own weapons, traits, and utilities that’s going to add more headaches for balancing which, has always been the reasoning behind the low number of skills and such the past couple of years.

Another thing is the overall need to specialize to begin with. I mean, we all pretty much specialize our builds anyways whether we’re PvE, WvW, or PvP. Why completely funnel us into a separate class that’s not as good at doing all the things current builds generally provide ( DPS, CC, Heal ), but excels in say, support more than the other two. Which brings me to question the other professions new specializations. Given that they’ve stated the new content is the most challenging they’ve ever created for GW2, is this the usher in of a Trinity system? Guardian’s still not revealed, but I can only imagine them going two ways: Further into healing power a la Monk, or into defensive support as seem with Paragon.

Don’t kill me over all this speculation, just voicing my concerns.

This is the PvP forums. When Arenanet said there will be challenging content, I’m pretty sure that’s not cause for concern that there will be a traditional trinity in PvP comps.

You’re focusing too much on one thing I said, when I’m really more concerned about these specializations as a whole; not just a Guardian channeling their inner Mhenlo. The harder content part was used to illustrate how they could implement it alongside these new specializations.

Use that brain and apply a little critical thinking.

5 with 3 specific utilities,1 heal and 1 elite dedicated to the traits lines can create butterflies out of the current balance. I really hope they don’t miss the opportunity to actually have a soft balance. Make it so that you can turn back but not cheaply so it’s useful in all modes. WvW and pvp are not as broken as pve and can make use of condi,healing.. and such don’t make it pve only DO NOT MISS this opportunity.

It can create profit for them as well the soft balance will attract pvpers and wwvers to buy HoT to escape their 6 months balance routine it sounds kind of wrong but it’s a great business move. Think diversity,health,profit this can take them on top and remain on top with future expansions.

Aww. I’m the opposite. I hope this isn’t just 5 players and under.

So hopefully by “scope” you mean that the mode supports varying numbers of players on each side – you can have a match with 5 or you can have a match with 10 or something. Not that the scope is small, i.e. only 5 players and under.

Don’t you ever say that again. If you want to empty your pockets every month to a stale old fashion mmo then go back to “Thou Shall Not Be Named” game.
