The brackets for the North American Tournament of Glory Qualifier #3 and #4 are now up!
One thing to note: 4/5 of our highest internally rated teams are playing in Qualifiers #3 and #4. This was due to scheduling concerns from those 4 teams. We tried to accommodate every team’s requested weekend and would like to thank those teams that were flexible for us in their scheduling requests. Finally: Some rosters fluctuated after we began the seeding process and several teams of note dropped out. This impacted the brackets in terms of balance.
We seeded the brackets based on several factors. Primarily, we focused on your team’s ELO Rating, Average LB Rating, and Team Q W/L record. In calculating your ELO, we went all the way back to our data from ToL1 due to the number of teams/players who were returning solely for ToG. I want to emphasize that at DPS, leaderboard ranking means significantly less to us than your ELO rating. We view Team Q internally as “practice” while MP Weeklies, ToL’s and ToG’s are considered actual competitive events. Thus, if this is your first competitive event, you may be seeded lower than your Team Q leaderboard standing may suggest solely due to the fact that this is your first real competitive event and we have no clue how you will truly play when the single elimination pressure is on. Finally, we had several teams at the bottom of our seeding that we had little data on. The only fair way to seed these teams was at random once the top parts of the bracket were seeded fully.
Based on our experience from the first weekend of ToG Qualifiers, we feel confident that our seeding system is working entirely as intended, assuming rosters remain more consistent moving forward.
