How hard can it be ?

>from water to sand with dunes like in Dry Top

>Ship still there but now a old wreck

>Environment became old also with more Dry Top theme

>Quicksand on some places

>Cannon replaced for a sandstorm activator on target
(When activating on target place it will create a sandstorm blinding people, with animations like in the dry top sandstorm..)

really cool changes man. Maybe you should think of a secondary mechanic tho, i don’t think the cannon is good enough

Maby some quicksand on some places

And the cannon replaced for a sandstorm activator?

When activating on target place it will create a sandstorm blinding people
(with animations like in the dry top sandstorm..)

Or it can be even less work and do as the OP suggests. Then move cannonball from ship to platform. Add channel on picking up the cannonball like on Spirit Watch. Remove cannon from platform and place 3 on ship pointed at each node (modify ship as needed), with the ability to only load/fire one cannon at a time. New cannonball will spawn only after all shots have been used or a timer expires (30 seconds or so). Once another cannon is loaded that can be the only one fired. That will basically make it a better version of Spirit Watch and Hammer. I always thought and remembered people saying they actually liked the map concept if it wasn’t for the terribly imbalanced water combat.

Either way you already have 80% of the map done just needs some tweaks.

the map on its own was cool and fun to play (besides water) they really dont need to do much.. make all rocks more red and water into sand..
Place some dunes/plants/rocks you already made in dry tops.. copy pasta work i guess :-P

now paint the ship old .. remove some planks making it look more old..

Dunno but it just doesnt sound much work, and we have our old map back + cool dry top theme! (just love those sand dunes!! )

What was so wrong with underwater combat???

It was just a map for hotjoins.

Of all the imbalances and problems with hotjoins, they decided underwater combat on one map was something they needed to totally eliminate…lol

On the flip side, they kept Skyhammer in ranked pvp where people can get 1-shot (sometimes from stealth).

How on earth was underwater combat worse than that???

I seriously miss Raid of the Capricorn.. and these few modifications suggested by OP eliminates the underwater combat issue.

the main problem with capricorn for “competitive paly” was not teh water but that blue team has a huge advantage by having a superior scouting position next to their close. Sure, underwater wasn’t well liked but it was probably not even close to as unbalanced as people made it out to be, but as nearly noone spent their time on even learning it we will never know xD

I joined PvP late, so I never got to see the Raid on the Capricorn map. Would like to see this idea come to fruition if ANet doesn’t want to go back to underwater combat.

This is a great idea actually
Though rather than sandstorm activator
I’d like to see Legendary Giants appear on cap points and start smashing people
