Hey all it’s Puffo Killer here!
I would like to express my opinion on the possibility to include one extra game mode for the pvp scene.
First of all the motivation: there are several custom arenas dedicated to the 1v 1 and 2v2 scene as well as organized tournament with prizes for players. I then assume that many people enjoy this aspect of the game and would like maybe to have a game mode that allow them to train in this sense without the long queue of custom arenas.
My suggestion is to add the skirmishing mode! 5 players will face other 5 players, but points are no longer granted by capturing points but only from stomping people. However, this won’t be like a normal Courtyard match rather then a combination of 2v2, 3v3 and 1v1 !
Let’s imagine this scene: the 5-people team enters “the map” that basically consists of a lobby and then “in the sky” up to 4 big circles where you can be teleported to fight against the enemy. Once the “distribution of the skirmishes” has been decided (I’ll come back to this later on) the team has to choose the pairings: who will play with whom and who will go alone in the 1v1 ring.
Then the match officially starts and there will be 2v2 for instance in one ring and a 3v3 in another ring: the skirmishes are played at the best of three, where players in the ring cannot respawn after their death until the other players on the same faction are dead as well. The whole team will benefit of ANY stomp successfully performed by its player during any duel in the rings.
After the first round all 5 players are returned in the lobby and they can decide to change the players that will play the second round in the rings (the distribution of the skirmishes doesn’t change) and then after 1 minute or so the second round begins. (The other team won’t know which will be the comp of their opponents, not even before the first round starts)
At the end of the second round the team with more points wins the game.
The way of choosing the number of 2v2s or 1v1s or the possibility of doing a 3v3 is called by in this thread “distribution of skirmishes” and it’s basically decided by the team queued in the same way as they normally choose the map.
For example there could be
option 1 – 2x 2v2 + 1x 1v1
option 2 – 1x 2v2 + 1x 3v3
option 3 – 1x 3v3 + 2x 1v1
Again, in the rings there might be inserted some obstacles so that people may exploit pillars or the map in general to cover from some attacks so that a double lich won’t necessarily win the skirmish (it’s just an example don’t rage now saying “you’re a NOOB if you lose from a double lich” ), even though I don’t really think there should be limitations regarding the amulets or so.
Anyway this mode can be proposed as an alternative to ranked teamq and not just a mode that you choose like you choose courtyard. In addition I think it should also be prevented completely the match up of 5 premade against 5 pugs but that’s just a thought of the moment, not really sure.
Any serious thought about this? Is it really so silly? Useless? Improvable?
