- 4s Burning on 10s cooldown
- DS 5: Torment over time(600 range) and at he end immobilize for 2s
- 50% Crit chance while on DS (GC Necros can hit 4k’s with auto attack)
- Wall of fear which last 9s+
- And a lot more..
That is assuming the “leaked” patch notes are accurate, which is questionable.
That said if those notes are accurate…
4s burn on Crit with 10s CD for a Grand Master Major in Spite is borderline useless. Only way to possibly make it somewhat workable is in a terror build with a Rabid Amulet.
DS5 unless it breaks the norm of having a longer CD on the 5 skill than 4 is a min. 40s CD. Not going to be very strong.
+50% Crit chance in DS makes you dangerous when A) you are not taking damage you are running a power build C) you have over 50% LF already D) your opponent allows multiple 1.25s cast projectiles to hit them E) you are not getting CC chained. Yeah, it is a buff, but so conditional that you will have a really tough time capitalizing.
Spectral Wall inflicting Fear would be a biggie. An all-in terror build would be able to chain a 6s or longer (if the wall is placed just right) fear with Staff 5, Wall, Shroud 3. Wonder if they will fix the bugged combo field on wall while they are at it. I rather doubt they can do this, because Epidemic-ing the roughly 4s left on that Fear chain would be a monster crutch and not really fix the Necro problem.
I don’t want to get into the rest of it, because it is probably incomplete at a minimum and possibly completely inacurate aside from the nature of Torment which has been somewhat confirmed, but if those notes are accurate it looks to me like Terror will be the only Necro build to play (in a few variations) and even that still won’t be viable.
There are some nice buffs for us, but I personally would like to see more traits getting reworked. There are so much traits worthless, and there arent’t much changes there.
Would like to see the siphon health getting a bit reworked so it’s actually viable.
Although the skill changes seem nice.

How pessimist lol, burning is one of the strongest conditions, have acess to 4s (+ condi duration) on a 10s cool down seems pretty strong, specially since its on the tree related to condi duration, couple of bleeds, poison, burning + FEAR and it’ll be gg for most people.
maybe just for trolls, but power wells with almost 100% crit chance would see pretty strong to me on node fights. but yea… sniper necro would be nice! 4k Life Blast that pierce? free Lich Form :p ( but yea.. u have no ninja it from far and not be attacked, like a sniper)
but yea, we’ll just have to wait and see until update comes out to see if the changes are true. tbh i hope they are not necro burning + fear will be a little too much

Do you know ANY condi necro who puts points in spite? I don’t think so. Now if we want the burn we must invest 30 points into a useless tree IMO
Also another thing not really looked at but a necro with full life force can have perma stability lol foot in the grave while death shrouds cool down is 5 seconds with some boon duration bam perma stability

Also the engineer trait that burns is only 10 points in the same tree as necro where it is 30 points? I don’t agree with this
they probably made it like that because of fear, burning is a strong condition, but fear someone while burning, its gg against most classes, also with scelper auto attack, its impossible to remove burning unless you clear 2+ conditions at once :P

Putting it at 20 in spite actually makes it synergize with Terror better than anything else.
30/10/10/0/20 With sigil of Paralyzation = 100% Fear Duration (Paralyzation apparently stacks multiplicatively with duration rather than addatively, because I and others tested this to confirm) Glassy condi spike. Depending on runes and utilities you could have a monster CCunmitigatible damage spike to the tune of about 10K just during the Fears and by the end they will be so loaded up with other conditions that only a full cleanse or chaining multiple cleanses can save them. I can see where they are going with this if the notes are legit. It will just make Necro an absolute immediate focus in team fight scenarios and a very strong 1v1 burster due to high CC content, unmitigatable damage and boon strips in a single build. The weakness of Necro would be unchanged though. CC Rag doll when build to capitalize on damage.
Looks like they might be toying with the idea of making a perma-stability bunker Necro viable too based on the alleged changes. We shall see.

Didn’t they say we weren’t getting anymore access to stability not long ago in the SOTG?
yet, if those notes are true, we can get perma stability => near to death moved to master + foot in grave = 3s stability every 5s, assuming you have enough LF building to do that, otherwise you could also run well of power, so you can achieve a really long stability rotation.
Anyway doesnt really look like a big trouble cause even if you are in stability you’ll still eat the dmg, and something like this would really fit in the role of a wellspammer: staying in the center of an area denial.
