Hello! So i was wondering what the rest of the community thinks about Necros in WvW and sPvP atm. Do you think they needed the buff? Or do you think they are overpowered now? If you would change something, what would it be? Imo the buff was not needed really, as they were quite strong pre last balance patch. But, seeing that there are probably more exp players out there who can give some more insight to the subject, I would like to hear your opinions.

imho the buff was overrated and did little to the meta necro builds.

Necros are definitely strong right now, although I would say that’s because they “inherited” the meta after the bunkers where nerfed out.

I could already get annihilated by Condi Reapers as a Revenant, but the recent patch makes this even more one-sided. My only option is to jump a Necro as he’s distracted and do as much damage as possible before I die.

Even as a Reaper player, I think some of the changes were unneeded; particularly the Scepter one. The rest are kinda fine, but Condi Reaper really does have too much condi pressure.

It’s simple. They buffed necro at what it excels at – boon stripping, making it unmatched (partially broken) in that aspect instead of buffing it’s weaknesses. (eg. mobility)

I would argue that all classes should have built in weaknesses. Nullifying necro’s weaknesses would actually be a significantly larger buff compared to the handful of minor buffs the patch brought.

I meant certain QoL changes, not literally remove the weakness of a certain class. And I wouldn’t call the necro buffs minor, really. The added boonstrip might seem small, but combined with what it already had before it is a bit too much.

I think necro should remove all boons with every 3rd auto. Also transfer 1 condi every second to all enemies in 900 AoE. It’s make necro balanced very well, now necro so weak.

They have buffed the corruption because even if necromancer was the best class for it, it was really weak vs the boon spam you can do with some classes like Ele/scraper/druid…
Spamming boon is not supposed to counter corruption it is the just the opposite.

Actually Necro is force to play condition or hybrid condi/power because reaper shroud is mandatory (stab/CC) and Deathly Chill >>> Blighter’s Boon (useless) & Reaper’s Onslaught (half useless).

The 2 specs (condi or hybrid) have really good pressure but also have the same lacks which are the core necromancer’s problems, low mobility and no active defense; so necromancer because it is a good DPS and low defense class is still the first focus in team fight.
In conclusion, Necromancer is stronger than before HoT and a bit stronger with last patch but because every classes out there are power creep with amphet we are exactly in the same spot.

I play Necro and almost only Necro from start and I can say it like this:

Power Necro became stronger as Reaper (HoT did that) the Elite itself makes power builds better and more viable, specially vs other Melee classes. A Warrior could wreck us pre-HoT just by useing Stances and abuse our lack of Stab, this changed. Its still countered by tons.

Condi necro also got better as Reaper tho the Reaper Shroud imho gave more to Power Necro then Condi (#4 RS exception). Now after Jan 26th tho most if not all buffs where given to Condi Necro/Reaper and virtually none to Power builds with maybe the exception of “Spiteful Spirit” wich most dont use anyway.

Condi Reaper got its Weapon buffed and its traits buffed and even Corrupt Boon is better in the hands of Condi builds (much better in fact) while none of this was given to Power Reaper.

Condi Reaper is atm to strong and I see only 1 counter to it: The Power Daredevil wich wierdly enough a Power Reaper has much easier against.

There you have my view. But plz dont cry about it cause 3,5y as Necro and NEVER have we bin called “Meta- Class” before, a title some classes have ahd for years (those classes tend to cry hardest now)
