Server : Anvil Rock (Since Release!) [SOLO]
(edited by Kardiamond.6952)
Hi There!
I just switched back to my necromancer in sPvP.
I was wondering, and I think I already saw a topic about it back then, but :
Should Necromancer start with a full life force bar?
I’m wondering what you guys think about it?
Usually, I can hold a point for a long time, so I go for the close point at the beginning.
So my first fight, I feel like I’m starting without access to my class mecanism. Or I will be able to use it and only receive two hit before dispelling.
DS is really useful to aborb the first burst if you can’t CC the ennemy.
In sPvP it’s a lot harder to generate LF, and I feel it really penalyze us for the first encounter.

I think half a bar might be more appropriate than a full one.
But I do agree that starting at 0 can be rough.
A full Life Force Bar would be a waste of damage, and would make it nearly impossible to kill off a good necro at the start of a fight. We would have access to some of our most powerful skills immediately. However, we should have access to at least creatures (like spirit watch) to kill so we can get at least 10 percent LF. What I typically do is use the Heart of the Mists to build LF so that I have it when I enter the Map.
If you didn’t know that was possible, your LF does not reset during the setup. So you can go out and fight the other team or kill creatures in the Heart of the Mists and then begin the match with LF.
You can start with some life force by summoning flesh golem just before the game starts and then switching it out for plague form.

You can also summon and kill Flesh Wurm a few times before the match starts and then swap to another trait.
I know the “unentended” way to gain Life Force, but I don’t think our balance should come from unwanted mecanism.
We can also presume that Anet might someday “reset” our life force before start.
I agree that a necromancer is really strong 1vs1 with a full lifeforce bar, but focus fire the necro and the DS advantage disappear right away. And at the same time, a necro with an empty life force is left without much defence mecanism.
I think Bas critere solution could be a good idea. Random criter around the place to get some life force.

Actually i agree, cause atm LF is the only way for a necro to soak dmg, without LF a necro is almost without defenses. But i think Necro do need a little tweak, cause they are on lower tier atm side by side with warriors.
I mean, necro can be good, i love my power necro, can be really deadly, and even if i can often melt eles and mesmers i think its not cause of the classes but a matter of players skills.
The worst point about necro is the totally absent mobility…. most succesfull classes (eles, mesmers) has great mobility, while once a necro is in trouble can only rely on its second life bar…. which means cant rely on anythign if its empty…. and even popping LF isnt a way to escape the dangerous situation, its just making the suffering 3 seconds longer.
We definitely need some escape mechanic.
Full LF at the start of a match would be out of hand. Go in with a way to gain LF quickly at the start if you are squishy, or make sure that your team is smart enough to peel for you at the beginning of a match since a good team will make you one of their primary targets often (signet of undeath scares lots of people into focusing necros and epidemic compounds the issue).
If Necro’s started with full LF, then teams stacking necros would win almost every opening encounter against equally skilled opponents. You could argue that some of the weapon sets need better ways to build LF, but just giving you another 20k or more health to start a match isn’t really a good solution.
you can have even 100k hp, but if get focused and dont have any way to get out of the focus fire, you are going to die aswell, remember that those so called “OP” classes doesnt have high hp at all…. less than 20k usually. What help someone to stay alive are usually invulnerabilities, sltealths, high defense and many heals, blinks.
Sadly Necros dont have any of these tricks to play, we dont have anything to really waste the opponent burst.
Ele, mesmer, guard, ranger, warr(with shield block) have invulnerability, thief doesnt but it has a good burst and the blink + stealth away option….. only necro is out of all these tricks for survive.
I hope Devs are planning something about this.
Half LF would be fine. Full, eh. I never have trouble with a necro in DS in the first place but w/e.
anyway what i stated above shoud make all understand that letting necros start with some LF isnt the solution to the problem…

Everyone else has access to all their skills and utilities except for a warriors adrenaline bar. And if the solution is to run around before the fight to build it up, then might as well make it convenient for a necro and start them off with at least half of their LF bar.
Needz moar adrenaline at the beginning of the match.
