I have suggested this in previous rants i wrote in offtopic threads and realized i should make a thread dedicated to the idea to see what other people think about it.
In preperation for the ideal E-sport scene regardless of how far off it may be, i suggest arenanet put on mini-tournaments.
How this will work.
About once a week (maybe bi weekly, twice a week, depending on what works best)
They would hold a tournament. You would que up for it like you would the 8v8 system but you MUST bring a pre-made team of 5 in your roster before you que. You would have about a 1/2 hour grace period to create a roster and sign up then the tournament would start pitting teams against each other. (this would be time sensitive. Due to jobvious time restraints, it couldnt have 1000 teams fighting 1000 teams as that would take all night, so it would be a first come first serve, so getting your team rostered and readied earlier would be better)
Eventually you’ll have a declared winner.
The winning team would have their names listed somewhere (perhaps even in lions arch as well as the mist) be given a speacial finisher flag (that would last till next tournament) and earn speacial cosmetic token that unlocks speacial cosmetic rewards only obtainable through winning the tournament (token would allow you to get whatever weapon/armor cosmetic you prefered). As well as a speacial title.
How does this help the E-sport scene?
If the answer to that isnt obvious i shall explain. You would essentially be having an E-sport happen live on the game. The only difference is people wouldnt be at a building sitting next to each other streamed on a camera with sponsors and there would be no cash prizes. But it WOULD simulate the experience and give access to MANY more people who want to take a shot at it and see where they line up against the pros. Also this gives the pros an oppurtunity to see how they match against other teams and have bragging rights and rewards for being the best of the best. Also due to the somewhat frequency of the matches (once a week or whatever) you would only stay ontop for awhile, leaving oppurtunitys for others to take your crown, so even if you won last week, you’d want to win the next tournament too! and new players who didnt win, would get another chance soon
I think it would be fun, and exciting, i think the final (and maybe sub-final) matches should be streamed on arenanets website or allow others players to spectate these matches.
