Guild Wars 2

Hi,
I try to play guardian for days now, and I must say I’m bad. it seems I don’t understand the skills and basics.
I play with sword/focus and greatsword, smite condition, judge’s intervention, stand your ground, monk’s focus build. Knight’s amulet. Most of the time, 2-5 seconds after I start a fight, I’ve lost half of my health, I see red number everywhere and I’m under the effect of a lots of conditions. I’ve tried to kill guardians who were laughing at me, because I wasn’t doing much damage, but they seemed to hit me really hard. I understand it’s a problem of skills, and I’d like to have some advice, even basics, to improve myself.

yep…go in the guardian’s section and ask there, maybe also ask an high ranked guard in game for tips, lots of ppl new to the game and that don’t want to go with an usual glass cannon ask me for a balanced thief like mine and i’m glad to help them..don’t be shy everyone was a plain noob when he started playing, asking ppl with more experience for help and learning from them it’s normal…and if someone is like “I’m r40 and you’re kitten..so i won’t help you” well move on…because you probably have nothing good to learn from that one…good players MUST always help others if they ask for advices or you’re going to be just kitten….maybe ranked…but kitten..

First thing is first, what kind of role are you looking to play? tank? dps? in between?

A more balanced build, or one that’s in between being a tank(bunker) and an all out dps, is definitely viable as a guardian. However, you won’t see them to be as popular as bunker guardians as guardians are hands down the best class to defend a point with.

No matter what class you play, your build is going to be important. This holds true especially when you’re just starting out. Here’s 2 builds you might want to try.

Both can dish out some good damage, and at the same time be pretty survivable. Against most things you should do pretty well after you get used to playing the build. You’ll have trouble killing bunker builds, though.
