Hey, can any of you offer me any insights on how to target the right players in obvious clusterkittenes with minions, clones pets and whatnot running around? I have no problem killing people but when I try to point and click the right person I often have problems getting it done. The characters in pvp can blend over one another often making targeting a drag. I bet others have the same problem, how do you deal with it?

Very understandable, espeically when fighting minion heavy teams (like a mesmer and MM necro on the same point). Your best friend is typically TAB in those situations.

When your fighting a MM necro click the ground to remove any targets and then press tab, it will 99% of the time focus the necro instead of the minons.

When fighting a mesmer your best bet is still to manually click on them, but if that gets too unreliable you will just have to spam the TAB button until it gives you the proper target.

Also when using tab to target a specific enemy you should try to have that target as close to the center of your screen as possible for best results.

Also forgot to mention there are two possible keybinds (I don’t remember their defaults) which will force target closest enemy and farthest away.

This will never get better in this game, especially since at least two classes can more or less add the crappy targeting system as part of their profession mechanic; mesmers and thieves.

well for me if the mesmer is in the open away from his / hers illusions then i just click on him / her otherwise tab tab tab tab tab tab ctrl t

For minion teams use the settings in options, show all player names and show all enemy names. That way all the minion names do not clutter your screen unless of hover over them.
Plus tab targeting is pretty reliable for picking players.

I use action cam, just point at then.

I usually use tab, but when things go completely wrong like you’re describing I prefer to mouse click the target. Tabbing works most times, but when everything is falling apart you know Murphy’s Law will kick in.

I have my tab target keybind set to “target next.” i’ve noticed that if I have nothing targeted, and press tab, the enemy closest to the center of my screen tends to get targetted first. If not, i’m only 1 or 2 tabs away from my intended target.
