Symbolic DH are the easiests to clean. They don’t have much access to stability, so CC them and they die.

Don’t fight them on a point they own. Make them camp and always force a 4v5 situation

at first i thought this was a thread about “NerfWarriorsPls” the anet employee and the guard they duo queues with- in either case I would agree that unblockable kitten is unacceptable i noped the heck out getting hit with that

i disagree about guard tho cos im playing guard pls let me block its all i have ;-; also make justice passive apply 2 stacks of burning and make resolve passively apply resistance to me also thnx)))

(kidding ofc, all i actually want is buffs to non-DH skills and not DH nerfs thnx)

usually bad players ask for nerfs imo. when i was bad i asked for nerfs. then i learned to play a little and whala you see every class has a counter and you can beat classes that are your counter if you outplay them.

Symbolic Guard’s hard-counters are Druid and Reaper; Druid due to their multi-hit burst dps w/ sustain, and Reaper due to their unblockable boon corruption w/ interrupts.

True, the mace Warrior is a bit tougher, but they are not indestructible. They perform much better in 1v1’s than in teamfights, and they are very vulnerable to unblockable boon-corrupt along with good condi-clear.

I do agree that Necro, and Druid are counters to DH, but its only Soft counter.

And my argument about Warr isn’t with its condi based builds, but rather the GS/Mace Zerk amulet burst build that is only recently popular with S5.

I agree with you that Condi Warr offers some degree of counter-play, however the power version is where the true issues arise.

Condi Warr’s condi burst isn’t exactly overwhelming, and its justifiable, and seemingly balanced to some extent, despite being perhaps a lil too tanky.

Oh, my mistake, I misread and thought you were referring to condi-Warrior. Yeah, the power-Warriors nowadays are pretty monstrous. But then again, if they didn’t have their over-tuned stats, what else would they have? Their attacks are easily telegraphed, their mobility is “meh,” and often the difference between them losing or winning a fight is entirely dependent on landing the adrenal burst.

What profession do you normally play? Maybe I/the-forum could provide some tips on how to beat them?

DH have had almost only nerf and a minor tweek in simbols the last season and to be trash tier in s2 s3 becomes “op” in s4 s5, why?
very simple the metagame s1 s2 s3 where based on scratcher (sustained medium damage) builds and a block(main ofender for guard hatters) that blocks only a small number of hits is useles in this environement , but now meta shifted to burst one, and a well timed block that blocks the burst hit saves the day. just the oposite that hapened to necros the 2 life bar and a correct management of shroud is very very powerful in scratcher meta, but in burts meta when a well placed combined burst can eat the two lifebars in zero coma necros suffer a lot cuz they have little avoidance skills
the other “guard problem” is class staking, guards share much of their blocks; two guard have 2x blocks, three guards have 3x blocks….

GS war can hit hard, sure, but they typically go down fairly easily, compared to macebow, with some burst and kite playstyle. Symbol guards have very few stun breaks and no stability, as well as less condi cleanse than their meditrapper counterparts. Get out of their aoe and cc them. Neither needs a nerf imo.

BRB… going to make a warrior and guard… Nah I would suck at that too. In all honesty range helps deal with these builds from what I can see in my matches. Problem is sometimes i get to close then BAM! dirt nap.

When one build gets nerfed another rises there will always be some OP to certain builds. For instance I can take thieves out on ranger but not so much on Necro. My Necro can burn down Warriors and Guards when rotating correctly though they are tough.

Just my input.. PS Mesmers hurt me

Problem with DH is too many instant/near instant CC’s (shield knockback + spear pull) that combos really well with test of faith. Put a proper cast time on these skills so they can actually be avoided and DH becomes capable of being better outplayed and less rewarding for mindless spam.

Warrior’s problem is too many immunities, esp. having the pulsing stab on a short CD combined with arc divider doing way too much damage for its 450 range and only 1/2s cast time. Reduce the range quite a bit, as it currently hits ignoring height quite a bit and way beyond where there is any animation. You can be fighting, then BAM, get hit for half your health by a warrior you can’t even see who arc divider’d off screen.

DH definitely needs a nerf, it doesn’t need to sacrifice anything outside of movement speed and even that can be fixed with lynx runes now.

-Can run marauder and still tank reasonably well
-High damage
-Good sustain
-Excellent at 1v1s
-Good against power builds due to blocks
-Good against condi builds due to blocks and good condi clears
-Can fight both ranged and up close
-Can run both power and condi

Really think about it, even the meta warrior has to rely on endure pain because its so frail and can be kited, chrono has good damage but is also frail, thief has high damage but again, frail. Dragonhunter in my opinion has WAY too many options for such an easy to pick up class.

I love how people say warrior has telegraphs when it has double the HP pool of a berzerker ele, and berzerker ele has far worse delayed, hard to land telegraphs that only hit for 2/3 the damage and they don’t have remotely the sustained DPS of a warrior in pvp.

Warriors have incredibly short cooldowns on all their weaponskills, their bursts heal them substantially on top of their already overtuned heals, and their stances give them long periods of immunity to several damage types despite being the class with the highest HP pool combined with highest base armor rating and the best sustained heal skill in the game.

At least guardians can be spiked down due to their low base health and their heals are on fairly lengthy cooldowns.

Warriors do more damage sustained than a guardian, and are more resilient to burst to boot by virtue of their native health pool and access to immunities.
