New Player Arena Question
Arena’s aren’t put in yet.
Advice: Don’t play warrior if your worried about nerfs. Every other class is ok, but for competitive tourney modes Ele/Guardians usually benifit the team more than most.
There is no arena deathmatch coming soon. The main pvp mode is conquest and the tournaments will remember you of RBG in wow but with 3 nodes to cap and 5 players in each team.
Each node gives 1 point/second and each kill 5 points. To win you must reach 500 points. Every map has also a secondary mechanic:
-Forest of Nifhel: it has 2 bosses that give 25 points on kill and a buff. To get the kill your team has to do the last hit
-Legacy of the Foefire: each team has a “castle” and a guild lord protected by doors and guards. Killing the enemy lord gives 150 points to your team.
-Battle of Kyhlo: each team has a trebuchet that deals huge damage. You have to deffend and repair yours if you want to use it. You can also destroy your enemy trebuchet to prevent the damage.
- Temple of the silent storm: Buffs spawn on the map at given time and you have to fight your enemy to take them. The minor buff will grant your team +3 points on kill. The other buffs spawn less and one gives you 2x points from nodes and the other one captures all nodes on the map.
- Spirit watch: Just like eots in wow, here you carry an orb. If you deliver an orb to an enemy node you decap it.
Game is not that imbalanced as people say in the forums. Sure it has its flaws but balance here is 1000 times better than wow’s, so it won’t be a problem for you. Anet’s philosophy is to do small changes on classes, it’s not nerf elevator like in wow. Right now the only class that might not be viable in high end pvp is the warrior. The others are fine.
To enjoy the pvp i really recommend you to play with people you know. If you don’t have friends playing in gw2 go for soloqueue and add to friends those players that are good.
Welcome to the jungle
Note: also, don’t take the forums very seriously. We like to complain between tournaments and explain how much we hate this game and arenanet, but then we are always playing 24/7 lol

Very good explanation tbh!
Think the game could use more of that ingame, would help new players since most don’t bother with forums >_>
