New PvP Map idea
No ones interested in this I guess?
Its not really an inovative idea you know…

You are correct but it’s definitely more exciting than the garbage we have now. It’s also something so simple and obvious, which means it will probably never be implemented.
sPvP doesn’t need a new map, or game mode. Conquest works really well for tPvP.
That, and I GUARANTEE you that ANet has tested many many different game modes for sPvP before settling on conquest. And CTF was no doubt in that list.
I would spend my time on a map like that!
Not that i don’t like the current system, its just way to repetitive to do the same things and all of the different maps… something different would come as a breeze of fresh air to the game. the OP’s idea is not bad, make it a big enough map with buffs like on Temple of the Silent Storm and also 2-3 levels (bridges, tunnels, water).
If Anet doesn’t wanna include it on tournaments, fine! its just for fun, like Raid on the Capricorn was SUPPOSE to be but it’s actually not…
So you want to play keg brawl on foefire?
Am I good?… I’m good.

I suppose that is one way of putting it. But it’ll be cool, everyone protecting the orb or flag carrier and trying to sneak into the other base avoiding trebutchet attacks. And I agree with the other guy who said it should be multiple levels, that way there can be multiple entree points into the bases. I think my idea will be a pvp that requires team work communication and ultimately fun which I think is something the current repetitive pvp maps we have now lacks.

Theres no reason why you can’t have both.

Funds…. Funds are the reason we can’t have both.
You cannot discredit the thought, effort, and time the threader took to try and improve the pvp experience though…
Yes, Anet actually instanced a similar type of pvp map over their “Wintersday” festivities. The “Snowball fights” were 8 v 8 matches (if I remember correctly) with your choice of 4 different classes to play. 2 teams would start at their respective “peaks” located on two geographically equal points fixed to a delayed spawning orb at the base of the peaks. The team goal was to capture the orb and return it to your respective base. Rinse, repeat.
I really enjoyed this map (as I worn slick of the current line-up) and I hoped that the post Wintersday release of the “Spirit Watch” map would closer resemble this type of map. Yes, in Spirit Watch they introduced the orb but also came the various glitches, bugs and nerfs that followed (which were to be expected and still evolving). Obviously with only the 4 classes and “locked” skill sets to choose from, ANET was able to “pre-balance” this instance fairly well.
I do like your treb suggestion and it adds another interesting twist to allocation of resources (what your fellow teammates are doing) while reintroducing the treb in a different context other than Kylo.
To build upon your thought process:
1. Team with control of the orb could not score the orb if their home base was below a certain “resource” level.
2. Treb as well as player damage could deplete these levels (similar to a wall in WvW)
3. The means to repairing the base could be obtained at random nodes spaced out on the map. These could be fought for like random popping buffs.
4. Repairing base is similar to repair on WvW wall.
This might be a way to bridge some of the WvW conquest (break down gate, crush resources, defend, reinforce, counter attack) into PVP conquest method (point holding).
Typical business models will thrive and flourish when they are able to adequately meet and exceed their customer’s needs, wants and demands. Remember, ANET is a business first (a young one at that) and still has to “pay the bills” so to speak. Until they are able to meet the ever changing needs, wants and demands of their MMO customer base (most especially the pvp customer base) no good company will ever discount the valued thoughts, opinions, and suggestions of its current customer base.
Props to you for your suggestions and taking the time to express them. Cheers.

This is true but it’s not like there not creating content so instead of creating something mundane like a living story that will only be released for x amount of time why not release something more permanent like a new pvp map. I also feel like at this day in age it really wouldn’t require them emptying there pockets in order to come up with a new map but then again I don’t know what goes on in the confines of ANET.
