After the new matchmaking / rating system I just don’t play as much Tpvp as I used to. The carrot attached to the string that I chased is simply no longer there.

The other day I had a very intense match, right from the start we knew the opponents had a better organized team play than we had and our team game play skills felt similar. Needless to say, after a few minutes, I was already certain that we would lose.
But somehow, near mid game we somehow managed to turn the game around. Suddenly all our moves were synchronized perfectly and we managed to win by a hair.
Great game and none of us were expecting that.

So like a happy schoolgirl I ran off to log in and check the leaderboard to see how much rating it gave me. 1%.
I just felt, that’s it? That intense match where we should’ve lost just rewarded me with 1%
? I really had no words for it.

Next match, we start 4vs5 as one guy never shows up. I still fight my hardest even if the chances of winning are microscopical but naturally we lose it. I check the leaderboard, rating went down -1%.

Next match, the match was one sided. For the lack of better words, my team coordination was “special”, we got facerolled by 300 points or something. check the leaderboard later again, rating goes down -1%.

So all the hard work for the first match just went POOF.

Before the new patch, when I won an extremely hard match, my rating went up by like 7% and it felt much more glorified and a certain satisfaction was accomplished. When we face rolled a team or we got face rolled, I rarely lost more than 2%. Usually when I lost more than 2%, was vs full good premades that were lower ranked than us.

But now, I hardly find the motivation to keep playing xpvp. The rewards are very lacking, it doesn’t really progress towards anything and the rating was the only carrot that I really chased because it was fun to be rewarded for winning a hard match. But now regardless of who I get faced with, I seem to win / lose only 1% which is just.. for the lack of better wording ‘Meh’.

That’s the problem when premade loose against soloQ, they loose the same amount of rating they’d loose if the soloQ-team was a premade. So ye, soloQ is something not rewarding at all. It is frustrating and progression is just possible to a certain degree, till premades coming to stomp you back into the end of the leaderboard.
But we all know how broken the reward-system is . . .

indeed, since matchmaking puts you against premade much lower than yourself (and you often end up with lower ranked team mates as well), you’re gonna lose more points than what you would gain by winning…it should at least be balanced :S

If i solo queue i always get well organised premade teams at or past rating 96% :/ . Than i lost 1 and win 2 and am still at 96% x.x or on very bad day i can also loose around 6 games in a row cuz we always get well organised premade teams x.x .

Think of its the other way around. With the old leaderboard,let say you are at 96% and you soloQ, you lose to a team that has lv1 in there.Go check your leaderboard after the match, you cry out loud. Your rank drop to 80% after just 1 single match. You happy??I certainly not.

The leaderboard definitely improved, especially in terms of the stability of player rankings. Anyway, the problem is not the leaderboards. It’s more about the MMR that has still space to improve.

The leaderboard definitely improved, especially in terms of the stability of player rankings. Anyway, the problem is not the leaderboards. It’s more about the MMR that has still space to improve.

As well as the lack of population, lack of dedicated goals by Anet, lack of feedback by devs, lack of balance.

this game lacks.
