New changes will all be for eSports
Come on really…the last meta was garbage. Just because anet nerfed specs causing players to actually start thinking again it’s suddenly anti-casual. I believe up coming changes will lead to healthier pvp for everyone. The only thing anet has to keep an eye on is necros sceptre and making sure mes and ele stay competitive.
Read me back where I said it was anti-casual.
I read it as you saying the changes will be based on esports making pvp less casual player focused. I’m saying this is a good thing as the last meta was inspired by the goal of making pvp more accessible to non-pvp players (more passives etc). If the changes create an environment where players will need to learn and just spam buttons, then it will be an improvement.
Mesmer remians competitive, necro will have a place in Esports for sure now, with condi spec.. Ele bye bye, dead man walking! With diamond skin change … it will dye like warriors and thiefs!

I said, " at least not primarily". Their changes may indeed make the casual experience better. But I think it’s mainly about eSports viewership. Use that as a guideline, and we will better be able to determine what changes will go through.
Would be nice to get the filthy casuls out of pvp ; u ;

I agree and my first reply was not worded properly.
Anet should focus on the players that play pvp often rather than casually.
ArenaColin:
In regards to balance – balance is NOT driven by our PvP Pro League, the pro league is a marketing effort that has almost zero impact on our dev team. Drawing parallels between the two is at best disingenuous.
I beg to differ.
Am I good?… I’m good.
If its better to watch, its better to play.
… things that will make the eSports viewing experience more enjoyable. It won’t be about casual enjoyment …
How enjoyable view won’t lead to enjoyable play?
The current bunker meta is boring and kittened. It’s so in views because it is the same playing.
The two things are tied and if we shake up the meta to have more fast paced matches and finally not having godlike tanks fighting on node for 10 minutes ending matches with like 200 vs 300 points, all the good.
I really anjoyed my SD engi and burst ele, finally they might come back.
Bunkers also will still be a thing, but as everything they wont solo keep a whole point forever.
Wat r u, casul?
I agree that enjoyable viewing will probably be more enjoyable play.

Hes right, the focus right now is building e-sport, look for things that makes for faster paced action.
bunker specs and other such boring engagements do not make for good watching so, they will likely get nerfed to the ground.
I dont think we will be Zerk heavy mind you, but the ability to hold of 2-3 solo should be gone.
It´s good for tactical depth being able to hold 1:2 for a while with the right build. Of course the bunker should loose. 1:3 sould lead to fast death or force imidiate disengage.
And if they do nerf bunkering, it will make it harder for casuals to have a useful role in sPvP. But that’s the decision the developers face. Cannot seem to have it both ways given the small population size that throws casuals in with high-skilled players.

This makes little sense to me, its the more casual players that have far less likelihood of being able to take out a bunker or play it to its full capability. If anything its likely that the opposite might be true and a more casual player might actually have a chance.
Bottom line, no class or spec should be able to hold of 2-3 people solo. Delay them a bit for help sure, but literally stalemate 2 players with one is never a good thing.

Think lot of sfx and bling, less substance (so the vievers don’t need to pay too much attention and won’t get too confused), and you’ll know how. Not saying that it’s what we’re going to get, but just pointing out that one doesn’t necessarily need to go hand in hand with the other.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Currently there are easy bunkers for casuals to play and do well with.
So instead, ANET returns us to the all – berserker-all-the -time days. If kicking casuals out of pvp is the goal, this is a step in the right direction.
This will not promote skilled play, because the style will be to crush the keyboard super fast. The first player to land the burst combo wins. That’s both stupid and ugly in my opinion and it is certainly not skilled gameplay.

True, but that doesnt mean they play them as well or can perform the same.
Yes i see a lot of people that obviously got a spec off metabattle and think they can play after a couple rounds in unranked at best… they are the beatable ones.
The good ones, not so much.
I beg to differ.
They may not necessarily want THE quintessential representation of esports.
But a lot of their changes push in that direction to milk aspects of it. For a time soloq was in a good place, then ANet destroyed it but making soloq players fight teams.
You need teams for your esports.
