New map - secondary mechanic idea!
Seem like a bad map imo..
Does the summoner choose whoever he wants?? So he’ll keep picking the same guy to rolfstomp ?? Does the second player have a choice?? If so, the summoner could simply br left standing in the ship for 6min without anyone to fight.. 5vs4 map.. Weee
I think s duel mechanic would lead to alot of grieving.. And would also remove the team aspect of pvp.. Which is what the game mode is based on..
Would be nice with a 1v1 arena though, but it should be a seperate thing.
Best thing, imo, would be adding a proving grounds arena to the lobby. Where people sign up to fight openly. This gives player something to watch while in queue, and also gives bragging rights.
Though could also lead to alot of drama heheh
A very bad idea.
There’s currently several problems with builds that are too good at solo 1v1 dueling.
No single build should be able to heal 20% of their health per second while under poison, soak up damage with summons, or evade repeatedly, while also dealing tons of damage. Any build capable of doing that is broken, yet we have them around, and are widely exploited by unskilled players to simulate actual skill.
Every single build should have a counter, yet we don’t see this at all. You would think, for example, than a condition removal necromancer would do good against boon spamming builds like the ones tempest or scrapper usually have. By no removal can keep up with how fast they can reapply their boons and lose conditions.
The very attribute and skill system isn’t working like that. We would require a complete revamp of core mechanics to start seeing any semblance of actual balance.
Because of that, such a mechanic would allow players to single out enemies with builds not meant for duels or greatly weaker against particular builds and take them out easily with little effort.
Or end up with silly cases of a couple of broken builds with way too much survivality against each other, just mashing each other for the rest of the fight without any of them getting ahead.

-Yes the summoner choose who he wants to summon (only 1)
-Yes he can keep picking the same person if he wants (and wins ofc)
-The second player doesnt have a choice no, he gets summoned and he can win or lose
-5v4? no both players are trapped into the airship, you cant leave only by dead, so its a -4v4 on ground and 1v1 in airship or
-5v4 on ground and 1v0 in airship (but this only hurts your own team if you dont summon someone..)
-Its still leaves the team part on the ground (4v4) and most of the time its still 5v5 on the ground.

Some builds are not ment for duelling no indeed, but some classes/builds are not even ment to play on a capture node, so this mechanic could do something for those classes/builds.
Sure some duel builds would do better in the airship, but thats why they go for the airship to duel and help there team on the ground by summoning someone.
I cant help that there are broken builds, if builds would be more balanced then would you think something like this airship idea would be nice to have? maby for a shorter duration.. but i can see this mechanic being pretty nice and can really turn the fights around.. (where its now pretty much all stack and bunker the kitten out of capture points)

How do you think that would end?? He will afk/dc out to get away from that bs. This makes the ground game 4v3, because The dueler now picks the next victim to abuse and this keeps happening until everyone has afk/dced out of the match..

If you want a duel mechanic, then it needs to be fair. The duelist has to invite someone and if no one shows, you’ll hurt your team. If someone joins and attempts to beats you, they get more points for winning, then you would get. That could work, since some would build specifically to go duel. Otherwise you’d just get a gank room.. But maybe that is what you wanted?

So lets redo that:
-you cant summon the same person twice
-if 1 player wins 3 times in a row he gets removed from the airship (or you run out of the timer wich is set to 6min)
