So I just bought the game and I am download it, so my question is:
What is a nice starting class for a hardcore pvper like me
I want a class that is easy to learn so I can get in the game faster.

Thief. Spam 3 spam 2 when it gets rough swap to shortbow and just run away. Immortal basically.

I think if you’re trying to be a hardcore PvPer you should get familiar with all of the classes to see what they have to offer.

Despite what I just said, the most viable classes right now at large would be warrior, elementalist, engineer, and thief.

In terms of difficulty (easiest -> hardest): warrior -> ele/eng -> thief.

I’m in the same boat as op. I’m trying to get into a hardcore pvp scene so I just picked up gw2. Trying to decide between ele, thief and warrior. What’s best at max level and viable in tournament play?

unlike other mmos the Effects on some of the more deadly animation or combos are less Visual than others though the larger Knockdown effects are much more visual ect
best to do some PvE first learn the machanics away from Pvp to avoid fustration and atleast find the dodge Trainer near your Starting area so you can practice timining a few dodges.

race don’t matter , class don’t matter each class has its pros and cons , and its abilities for being better or worse at certain types of combat all depends on how you built your charaters build/skill/utiltiy set in the end High level play is more about personal skill than the class you are using it will only give a very small Advantage if the opposing player is Unfermilair with the build you are using.

i would suggest nothing but try out the classes one by one untill you find somthing you like doing.

I liked how the elementalist plays, so i’ll probably play that
I am already looking in the classes so i can have a fair amount of knowledge when I hit 80.
