At this time, you can be #1 in the leaderboard or #9000, you earn the same amount of rank points (and rewards), where it shouldn’t be the case.
I know that comes April 15th, ranks will be more pointless than ever, but rewarding more the better players is still something Anet should be looking at.
So, I’ve been thinking that we could easily reward better players by adding a simple thing :
In SoloQ, no matter that you win or lose, you go back to the mists after the end of the match.
What if the winning team could go to the next round (and not necessarily against another winning team) ?
So, it could go like this :
0 win = 300 rank points – 12,5 silver
1 win = 1000 rank points – 25 silver – (1) reward track (I don’t know how this will work)
2 wins = 1300 rank points – 35 silver – (1.5) reward track
3 wins = 1500 rank points – 45 silver – (1.5) reward track
4 wins = 1700 rank points – 60 silver – (2) reward track
5 wins = 2000 rank points – 80 silver – (2) reward track
…
Up to 10, 15, 20 wins ?
Of course, this could be capped, and it’s inspired by SoloArena in GW1, but winning many games straight would require 5 very good players. This way, hardcore gamers could rank up faster and earn more rewards than casuals.
It’s easy to implement and this could be something while we’re waiting for the next big thing for top players.
