I like this idea too. Play/perfect a profession bc you enjoy it, not bc it is a good counter or fotm.

All joking aside, please don’t contribute to this splitting of the community into “pro” vs “not pro.”
But back on topic: I think it’s important to see who you’re up against before a match, just like real sports.
But now they’re hating cause a brotha finally got some buzz

I agree with this,
The recent change was awsome, only utilities being locked is missing now,
we need teams to be hidden untill the match actually starts, teams will have to addapt fast, and make calls on movement and splits, as the game starts, instead of instantly knowing exactly what to do.
if you play it risky and run out 1-3man mid on forest, without thinking it through you may get ganked.
If you play it too safe you may hand a free kill+cap to the enemy team.
This is the kind of changes thats needed to promote true team sync and skill.
+1 to the OP,

It’s like people are afraid your opponents might be smart enough to counter you, but you’re not confident enough in your own build. There are optional builds for many classes and there’s no way to know for sure a team’s strategy just by seeing their class and/or name. You can assume all you like but any good team will have many strategies and any good player will have many builds.
Seeing your opponents name and class is fine, since it’s actual teams fighting it out unlike the wild melee brawl of a hot join.
This is not the best solution, because people can still switch character classes mid match.
Better solution: make queuing CHARACTER-SPECIFIC. Instead of PvP queuing being account-wide, it should be restricted to the actual character being used to queue originally. This way, characters are locked in tournament matches, too.
I am in favor of locking weapons, I believe you should play with the weapons you choose before the match starts. Locking utilities on the other hand I am not a fan of. Anet forces players to choose 3 skills to use out of the already limited amount we have. By not being able to switch these when you need to you are not allowed to fight certain classes/builds effectively . This to me promotes less player skill fights and more rock, paper, scissors who’s build counters who’s.
Totally agree with OP.
