Why isn’t there any counter play to moa form? If guild wars is all about build creating and countering or making up builds that have good sustain / dps/ condi dmg , why isn’t there a balance for Signet of Humiliation? So far all you can do is dodge it but its really hard to see and it last 10 seconds. Now that Mesmers have continuum split it makes fighting this even harder. Can some one please give me a legit answer instead of telling me i need to l2p or “git gud” or some dumb kitten sarcastic comment.

Get stealth to counter the inevitable focus fire

Moa is pretty difficult to play with.
It’s why we went mass invis pre-HoT the majority of the time, and why most of them go Gravity Well now.

To speak towards SoloQ damage, even assuming you’re a Chrono Shatter, you, by yourself, do not have enough to kill a moa.

Your team HAS to focus fire it.

Which in my experience, it’s pretty difficult to get pugs to focus fire anything.

As well, it’s really hard to have a team peel for you as a moa, when the enemy team does focus fire you.

So basically, the Moa is a coin flip in YoloQ.

In team play, I’d argue Gravity Well is stronger.

AoE CC vs single target shutdown.

If it was really overpowered, you would see every single mesmer run around with that signet over mass invis and gravity well.

It’s an undeniable fact that moa is the ultimate 1v1 skill and has literally no counterplay coming from stealth, but it pales in comparison with the other elites. Because PvP is all about 5v5 and not 1v1, so you’ll just have to suck it up, sadly.

No one hating on mesmers, i shut mesmer down every day. Unless they Blink out of combat then come back in with full health. cause we know clones can still attack even when the player is out of range. Mesmers right now got more stealth and deal more dmg than a thief. Thief class is suppose to be stealth dependent . now you got a whole other class that can do the same kitten thing and spawn clones . Thief right now basically useless unless you are REALLY Pro / Godlike. but an average or casual player will not enjoy the game if they are repeatedly killed cause they feel underwhelmed. Aint that the reason to play video games? To have fun? This shiet aint fun.

Counter is Moa itself. Just dont panic and use Moa skills mesmers are usualy very surprised by their double edged blade:-P

You may notice that you can use Flee to evade some attacks, and it even sends you running a short distance if you wish to try create somewhat of an gap between you and your target(s). Perhaps to LoS around a corner, down a ledge, or otherwise.

You can use Screech to apply Weakness and lower the potential incoming damage coming your way. It’s not huge on range, but should serve its purpose.

See a field you can Combo Finisher: Leap from to gain something beneficial? Use Kick, besides using it to Cripple your target(s). You could use this before trying to Flee as well.

Or go on the offensive. Kick them, throw in a Screech, then Peck the kitten out of their hides before you Flee and Dodge for avoidance. And before you know it, you have dealt them some damage when they least expected it, and find yourself back out of the Moa form ready to curb stomp them and teach them that Moa is not such a easy thing to win with after all. If you got a buddy, practice in a empty Lobby with them.

Moa is great against Rampage and Minion Mancers.

Good ones will just wait till you panic and burn your dodges, after that every lockdown/immob is 100% contact because no stunbreak or cleanse.

I usually try to dodge 1 burst, wait for them in stealth and watch for the mirror blade , flee, and then i got about 5 seconds in moa, then dodge again. If im still alive that is cause usually once moa is over i get bursted down lol

While getting into stealth should prevent single-target skills that have no effect without a target from having their effect on you, this is not the case. A skill like rapid fire will keep autoaiming instead freeing the aim and making the ranger manually aim the rest of the projectiles, a skill like Confusing images or Flamestrike will complete its channeling even though it needs a target, but has no target, because stealth prevents targeting.

This makes stealth useless as a counter channeled effects once they have started channeling.

I know, right. I lost count of how many rampage wars I’ve killed as a moa.

Really can count the number of times I died from Moa on one hand. Dodge, use the Moa skills, LoS, etc. I think I’ve killed people as a Moa more times than I’ve died from people using Moa on me. But hey maybe it’s just me and I am just lucky.

…that’s why you shouldn’t panic and instead try some of the things written down in the post that you’ve quoted.

I’m actually keeping count of the times i’ve killed the mesmer while in moa form, the sweet victory is hilarious.

One of my favorite moments was when my condi ranger fire trap went off after I got transformed and without missing a beat i leapt into it for fire aura and proceeded to kill him xD.

I just wish you could jump in moa form since day one. It would allow a bit more kiting potential. Honestly its a minor annoyance when you do get moaed and hardly happens since no one runs it.

Yeah. Every single model players may end up controlling should have jump and swimming animations. Except those that are meant only to fly or swim, like fish and owls.
