No more re-logging, please!
Everyone has an equal opportunity at the beginning of the match to swap classes. That being said, if you don’t have the desire to capitalize on that opportunity to counter the other team then so be it although it would only be at your disadvantage.
No one is asking you to perfect every class, but you should familiarize yourself with different playstyles such as support or mobility to fill any holes in your team comp. Many times you can use the same class with a different build. A quick look at your post history suggests you favor a mesmer. In my time in pvp I have seen mesmers provide great damage, great support, and/or great mobility.
Tldr- everyone has an equal opportunity to swap builds/classes to fulfill a missing role. You don’t need to perfect all 9 classes
Sounds like you are getting matches where the enemy team has a crappy comp compared to yours, and so players on the enemy team swap classes and deny you your easy win and that upsets you?
If they know how to play multiple classes, why shouldn’t they have an advantage over you?

I don’t want to be forced to practice each class
….. And Elementalist.
I lose more matches than I win, because each time I get on a team that has better chances to win class-wise, someone (or several players) on the other team re-log into the match with a different class, hence making it unbalanced and bound to lose.
- Remove the option to re-log, it’s making matches even more unbalanced than they already are (see #2).
- Find better balanced matches in regard of classes being put in one team. Often, it’s insanely unbalanced.
And no, I do not want to re-log into a match with a diffrent class myself, because I don’t want to be forced to practice each class to perfection in order to be able to play sPvP with any class currently required, only because the system is broken.
Been stating this like all the time.
I am in the top 200 and the vast majority of my games that involve swapping classes we lose. I can only hope they prevent swapping in the future, but people voted against it so I doubt it.
I’ve also been told that swapping is more often in the higher tiers of PvP, but I don’t see the same results.

Queue up as a class that is completely opposite what you normally play, then swap when there are 16s left on the timer. Something like:
Necro swap to Gerdian
Thief swap to Ele
Ranger swap to Warrior
Gerdian swap to Mesmer
Ya know. Just to punish you allies and opponents for counter-comping. Build Wars 2
Illustrious Exhausted Primordial Legendary Druid, and Mesmer for fun

Do you know why ppl voted no? Because they want to do legendary backpack! It has nothing to do with actual PvP to vote no.
“But that wont solve balance issues.” Ofc not. But thats a one step towards it. Once class MMR would been added, devs could have focused to balance and implying a list of most played classes so players could see whats most played classes and whats not. Matchmaker would firstly try to make non-stacked teams, and if failed could wider the range so that team could have 2 of same class. If player pool was very low (night time) there could be team with 3 of same class, but thats only rare moments.
“Queuetimes would be 1 hour long.” see above. I highly doubt they would. Only if you are playing on times when there isnt players and even then only if 50% of players played the same class. I have seen top 20 players on enemy team last season on nighttime while I was gold div. So… MM could seek players out of your division anyways.
And getting that legendary backpack would be easier! Think about it. class MMR. You havent ever played revenant? Dont worry! Matchmaking would put you in match with people who are not familiar with their classes either! PvE players should be happy about this. And you wouldnt need to go unranked to practice for hours because of this.
I understand your frustration, I too hate to swap class, but trust me this helps you to understand team composition better, get out from your comfort zone and try to learn to play just one more class. What if your current primary class build is counter by 3 enemies of the opposition team? For sure you need to swap or you are gonna have a higher chance to lose.
At the end of the day, swapping is just to complement / fill in the role which lacks in your team in oppose to enemies.

At present, the matchmaker doesn’t even attempt to create balanced matches profession-wise. If players on the opposing team realise that your team has a better chance to win class-wise, it is their right to relog to redress the class balance.
A system with class-based MMR, locked professions, and a matchmaker that at least tries to avoid making class-unbalanced matches would be preferable IMO, but that motion was defeated in the poll, mostly because players don’t seem to trust that ArenaNet would be able to pull off the full package that would be needed to make it work (at least not without an awkward transition period where some pieces are there but others aren’t).
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

This.

I personally have no problems with people swapping classes, but here’s my cheeky reply anyways.
If the game was balanced and matchmaking did its job, there shouldn’t be an advantage for a class swap…

youre trippin. relogs save waaay more matches for me then the other way around. maybe you should check yoself.
What’s wrong with people showing brain!? What’s wrong with you not doing same thing!?
Or you don’t see nothing wrong with double/triple thief comps?

Fair enoth however why should OP lose ratings because his team mates who he didn’t get a chance to choose didn’t swap classes. Remember guys OP is only one person which can only hold one point at a time. How is that any representation of OPs skills in the slightest bit?
Issues as OP describing are part of the reason. Most of us either play at a bare minimal or not at all. No one competitive, in their right mind is going to leave their PvP game. In order to repopulate GW2’s failed conquest that the devs, have no real mind to even make balance, let alone fun and competitive.
Do yall hear that? I hear it for sure. That’s the fat lady singing. I heard her singing since Season 3. Her song is nearly finished.
But at least I admit it!

It’s a 2 way street.
Most of the skill required in this game since HoT spam fest came out is nothing more than knowledge, including what classes and comps are best suited for a match.
Did you know that before HoT we used to dodge certain animations like Fire Grab?
I barely see anyone dodge now, it’s mostly just stand still with blocks, invuln and evades.

No, I never relog as another class after I’ve chosen to use the class I choose to complete a match. But I have to disagree with you.
Simply because the match making system isn’t profession based. Until that is the case theres is no problem.
When in a match, players are suppose to be aware of what is happening, hence why we have the mini map. If you failed to see that, it is like choosing the worng point to cap, ran into a thief hiding to snipe you.

I’m a little confused with this thread… so.. can you still swap during the game? I assumed this was impossible… hence the Vote thread made by the dev.

You can freely swap during the pre-game timer. Once the match has officially started, you can no longer swap from one class to another class. However, I am unsure as to the exact restriction placed on this. I wonder if I could swap from one warrior character (condi) to another warrior character (power) mid-match. I would assume that I can’t.
Once the match starts you cannot swap to another character. Although I really wish they’d just lock it down like this topic suggests. Last night I lost against a 4v5 because I had a druid on my team who didn’t swap when they had two necromancers and one thief.
He was pretty much entirely useless that entire game, hard countered by 75% of the enemy team. Man it’s been a long time since I’ve lost 4v5 but it really kittened me off.
People have the ability to swap but they refuse to do so, even triple thief teams don’t swap. Please just lock it down at this point and give us new MMR and leaderboards.

I really cannot at all agree with that sentiment given that matchmaking itself in this game will stack classes. If matchmaking itself didn’t do it, then that would be a different story.
Even if matchmaker didn’t stack classes, that still doesn’t mean you have a balanced team comp because it doesn’t take into account what build every teammate is running. In fact, even when you try to counter comp, you’re still not assured you have a balanced comp. Just because a teammate of yours is on ele, doesn’t mean he’s running auramancer healer, so you didn’t switch to ele thinking you had a support only to realize too late it’s a fresh air ele.

I’d take 1 Fresh Air Elementalist over 3 Thieves against 3 Guardians any day of the week.
