No new game mode in feature build confirmed?
i approve of this message. I cant believe the lack of balance updates this game has had since release. It has been beyond lazy and has resulted in a terrible meta for nearly a year (since dhuumfire patch). There needs to be more accountability in the pvp team. I expect a big balance update and new game modes in the april 15th patch. it has been long enough.
can any dev comment and tell us new game modes are coming on april 15th? Given the dev teams record on balance patches i dont think they will turn this meta around. Only new game modes that can create a fresh meta can save this game.
New maps/game modes seems to me something that would come out from: "The Art of Combat ".
Aliie already said they would be showcasing a new map tomorrow, on Ready Up: “a map with no capture points”
i must of missed that. I hope its good and not skyhammer part 2.

It is a new map called “Tightrope” Each team tries to get to the other side of the tightrope. In the end only 1 guy survives and he wins the game for his team.

The entire rope breaks after 2 seconds and there’s an auto-firing cannon that does a knockback too!
I heard the new map was called cake walk. Each time must take all passive bs skills. then spam their auto attack. evading/AI is encouraged. The least amount of player input wins.
This episode of Ready Up, we’ll be talking about a lot of the things you have all been waiting for! First up, We’ll have Hugh Norfolk and Darrin Claypool on the show to preview a new map that has no capture points. Next, Josh Davis has prepared a presentation to show off all the new traits, while the designers Karl McLain and Roy Cronacher talk about them.
When & Where:

Funny, I was totally challenging you in another post elsewhere Rickster, but I totally agree with you here. =) I was litereally just about to post almost the same thing.
I think I can boil it all down to a seriously clear and fair question to ask Dev team if they would bother to respond. I think also if they will not answer this question, it is literally the other answer people really want.
Q: Will there be DeathMatch added to PvP April 15th update? Yes/No answer required, no context required.
The real reason this question is important is the answer will really show after 1.5 years whether or not the Dev team is even making attempt to cater to customers, or narrowly sticking to pre-planned vision of game. Deathmatch could be totally broken, unbalanced, whatevs… but no one would ever be forced to play that mode, and many people have been asking for it(and are Justified asking for it since it was the core mechanic in GW1 PvP)
Probably arenas.
If we are talking about wanting death match, I would hope its smaller scale such as 2v2. And don’t get your hopes blundered yet, they never said that each of these blogs only talks about one specific thing so more than one can be bundled into one of em. I’m extremely excited for these changes. These sound like big changes coming to the game. Let’s hope that sPvP takes a big part of it.
I know its tough to be patient at the moment, but somebody above posted about a new map. With the trait changes comes balance youll get the rebalancing
Im thinking positive thoughtsd myself, also I kinda do care about looks in pvp :P Im sure a lot do! Even the top teams have some sick looks dude
The hype is real
Probably arenas.
Push pull CTF, betting monies!!!
I was right btw. No new game mode. They lied to us again. The new map will be marginally interesting but at the end of the day it is just zergjoin. An unbalanced mess is what it will be.
The PvP community isn’t even second rate. We are just not even a consideration at all. They don’t care about us at all. What does pvp get this patch? Nothing at all. Which is hilarious. We don’t even get a balance patch after 5 months of nothing. And that was after a tiny insignificant december patch. WHich we had to wait ages for.
Do you morons even read? The balance patch IS part of the feature build.
And how is TDM not a new game mode?
It isnt a game mode, it is just a map for hot join….
It’s still not conquest.
Wut? The only thing they did was give a map to the people already dueling on custom servers nothing more there is no “new game mode” it was allways there, they just threw a bone for spvp, because “they wanted to give something to the community”

1. There is no such thing as a PvP community. There is however a forum PvP community which doesn’t even know what they want.
2. They never promised anything about new game modes. They simply said that they are working on it, since your so called PvP community was demanding Arenanet to break their usual “when it is ready” PR statement.
3. I like to think that adding those sigils and runes are nice changes that will shake up the meta, but we don’t know yet.
The point being that a lot o f players demanded Anet be open and when they open players create false promises in their mind. Your post is the reason why Anet never says kitten, because at the end of the day the outcome is still the same, players whining.
added: the new map seems more like a test to see how TDM will work. i doubt this is the last update for sPvP now that a bigger market is now at stake (china).
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

Its not even for hotjoins, its for custom arenas. It basicly replaces what are known as the forest of niflhel duelling servers.
So its for duelling and and those weekly 2v2 tournaments.

What is stopping anyone from calling this arena a TDM arena ? It certainly looks like that to me… Am I missing something ?
I’m also rly disappointed.
A lot of the PvE changes seem very nice but they almost did nothing to PvP.
Trait, Rune and Sigil Changes are sth with simply effects the whole game.
All we got, was a new map…without capture points and called “TDM”.
I mean, wasn’t there a time, where ppl expected Custom Arenas to give them the feature to turn of Capture points and thus make “cusom TDM Arenas”?
Everything is balanced in PvP just look there’s like three different builds that people run.

There’s definitely a lot of validity to this post.
Players say they want TDM. When it’s being implemented as a test run to see how it does (which they literally said word-for-word on the RU) they call it a “dueling map” and dismiss it. The reason Anet doesn’t air out their dirty laundry to their community, is because it’s a business, first and foremost. They made GW2 to make money, not to create an additional outlet for people to consume Mountain Dew and Cheetos with. (Although, technically if they were to form some kind of marketing campaign with those companies…. nvm.) The fact of the matter is they don’t have to tell us anything. It’s on par with a few customers complaining about an item not being on a menu at a restaurant – Why would the restaurateur immediately jump to designing that item and editing their menu if they A: don’t know how it will effect food costs. B: don’t know how it will effect their customer base as a whole. C: it doesn’t directly relate to the menu’s concept. (I’m a Chef/Restaurant owner, sorry for the specific analogy.) They’re testing the waters before they implement something that may potentially be detrimental retaining their customer base? If they lose those few customers that are QQing about the menu item versus losing their larger customer base, it’s a lesser evil.

TDM is “zerg vs zerg” if by zerg you mean equal teams of 5 v 5. How would a “zerg” work on a map with no secondary objectives? The entire concept of TDM is “zerg.” It will force players to approach a match from a completely new perspective. Implementing objectives such as TDM other than conquest in the current state of the game would be a disaster. They need to work their way in to it. Trait/Equipment templates are a MUST before we see ANY other game mode implemented into a competitive area of play.
