If node deactivation is implemented for custom arenas it would be a simple way to enable a new Team Death Match type of play style. Players can already set point caps and team sizes for different types of TDM and allowing it in custom arenas first would be an easy way to test it out before implementing a totally new playstyle into tpvp. And Anet wouldn’t have to build all new maps to support a new style of play.

I believe new pvp modes will shake up the class tiers as well. A warrior is weak in pvp because they need to be “babysat” in order to be good, and in Conquest 5v5 you are split off into 1v1 and 2v2 situations where other classes are better at dealing damage while tanking a node.

Put a warrior in a TDM setting and all of a sudden they become a huge threat. They have access to cleansing support from classes like rangers and guardians, and healing support from elementalists etc. They get control support from all the other classes as well and now can specc for damage, call out kill targets, and get the job done. In TDM if a warrior needs to disengage from a fight for a moment they can do so with no penalty. If you disengage for any amount of time in Conquest you lose the node. Hell, if you use Whirlwind Attack often enough (which you should be using always) you’re at risk of losing a node.

Just some thoughts.

TL:DR

TDM = Class tier shake-up
TDM = fun

death match without a monk?…it’s not a match now. It’s just a d.p.s measure. Because there is no monks is why there is no death match..As any military will tell you, an army with no discipline is just a rabble. Monks and pure support professions is what formed ranks. With no dedicated builds that can fill these roles of true heal and support, all your making is a rabble match of ganking and zerging, which we already have in spvp when it is 8 vs 8 on tiny maps.

As an arena owner myself, I would love to see this implemented, along with the ability to select which points to enable/disable.

That way each and every capture point on each and every map is basically a separate deathmatch arena. Think of the possibilities!

Whirlwind does not decap. And all you have to do is just not cap the nodes. We do tdm all the time in custom.
