Hey all.

I think we’ve all faced it more often than we want, people joining spectate mode because they’re in the losing team, then join the wining team once auto balance ‘fixes’ the situation for them. It sometimes just gets to stupid lvls where it happens the whole match.

That’s why I’d suggest to change the hotjoin rewards. Just make it the same for both the losing and the wining team. Now, you might say that “Omg, it removes some of the competetive nature of Spvp”… well, if you really care about that, there’s still Solo and Team arena for you, where different rewards for wining and losing aren’t that big of a deal, because people are bound to their team anyway.

I think if the rewards were the same for both teams in hotjoin, less people would juggle the teams constantly and the matches would result into being more enjoyable.

Or even better they could take 10 minutes to add some restrictions to spectator and team select.

For instance, if both teams have equal players you can’t join the winning one.

But in reality they’ve ignored the exploit for this long, as much as I’d like to see it fixed I’ve lost all expectations that they ever actually will.

I had a similar idea to this, but instead of making it so both teams get the same reward, I would tie it to the “Random Team” option.

If you pick “Random Team” when you join a match, you get DOUBLE the rewards at the end of the match (capped at the winner’s normal reward). This means that if you picked a random team, and your team ended up losing, you’d still get the same rewards as if you’d lucked out onto the winning team anyway. There would thus be no incentive to hop teams, or wait until it becomes clear which team is superior.

Coupled with the fact that rewards are given out based on time played, this means it’s most profitable to instantly hit “Random Team” the moment a match starts, and then see it out to the end, win or lose.

Disabling team swapping might help a bit, I think, but I think it wouldn’t solve the problem entirely, because that would mean players would just ragequit entirely when they see they’re losing, leaving the losing team still 4v5 or 3v5. (And then someone on the winning team gets autobalanced over anyway.)
