Seriously, have you at least looked at a build calculator for ele before you posted?
Also unless a duel in a dps build lasts enough for me to heal over 3 times with water abilities, I don’t see how useful those 2k heals are when a warrior/necro has 7-8k more base HP than me.Focus is not so popular for a reason.
The reason why those extra heals are useful is because Elementalist has better damage avoidance compared to Warrior/Necro.
First off, Elementalist have access to permanent-vigor via trait. Warriors have no access to reliable vigor unless they run Warhorn or stances, while Necromancers have no access to vigor at all.
Those extra dodges provided by vigor are damage not taken that a Necromancer or a Warrior would have taken.Arcana Elementalists, also, have incredibly easy access to protection. While Warriors have no access to protection at all, Necromancer have some of it at low uptime. This extra protection uptime is, again, not-taken damage.
Just those two things are enough to justify the 7-8k of HP difference, which is even more mitigated while Elementalists run some Healing Power gear.
You’re talking about a full bunker spec with protection. There is no dps spec that actually uses protection traits.
Also necros have death shroud as a form of mitigation, warriors have higher base armor and they both have bigger numbers on their heals than elementalists with similar cooldowns. I don’t think that we should compare their 6 abilities to the guardian’s though since those are with a much longer cooldown. But the fact is that necromancer/warrior heal=element a list heal+cleansing wave(which is nowhere near 2k base BTW, just like every other weapon heal that elementalists have outside of staff… BTW that weapon also isn’t used at all in PvP… I wonder why).
Just open your eyes and realize that without stealth spamming a 10k HP class built for dps is terrible in the current condition meta.

20 in Arcana at least are a must take in every elementalist build. It is a design choice made by developers and also stated by Isaiah Cartwright that the Arcana traitline is designed to be useful in any elementalist build. If you think it is wrong, blame the design choices developers made.
Anyway, 20 points into Arcana does not make an elementalist a full bunker.
Necros have Death Shroud, true, which is a couple of more less-valuable HP, but they have no vigor, no invulnerabilities, no evades, no blocks, no reliable stability and nothing to cancel damage except Death Shroud, which can eat only a limited amount of damage, definitely weaker compared to evades which can eat an entire burst.
I’ve said that Elementalists have at least 2k extra healing via weapon skills overall. Unless you’re running Focus offhand, you have access to 2 healing skills in Water.
If 10k HP professions are bad in the condition meta, then it is just a problem of the current meta. This doesn’t mean that Elementalists are squishy.
I don’t think that a 90 second cooldown ability is reliable. Tornado is just plain bad. Eles don’t have any reliable stability unless they spec in earth for it.
Also, there’s dps traits in the arcana tree. Why would someone take bunker traits over dps traits if they want to go dps? Without full boon duration runes the duration on protection from that 1 trait isn’t really good. And it’s definitely not enough to make up for the low HP in dps spec.
Guardians and elementalists have almost 0 reliable condition cleanse in dps specs. Casting a full Ether renewal as an elementalist in a dps spec is probably going to hurt more than help. Also conditions still damage you in mist for so that definitely doesn’t help right now. Changing the meta is a possibility but they could just give guardians and elementalists viable condition specs. Right now they both lack damaging conditions for a real condition spec.
Also I think we both agree that focus needs buffing. It’s simply terrible.

Well, a 90 second cooldown 6s protection, stability and stunbreak is definitely more reliable compared to a 3s on granmaster trait.
DPS traits in the arcane tree are not that worth picking compared to defensive traits. Arcane Mastery and Arcane Retribution are the only ones and I think that only a fool would take those traits over Elemental Attunement or Renewing Stamina.
If you want to run full dps, you can but you’ll die horribly as much as every full dps spec does. Warriors and Necromancers are as squishy as dps elementalists. The only difference is that they can last a couple of seconds more because of the higher HP pool, not a big deal anyway.
You either take arcane mastery for arcane ability cooldowns or go water for reduced cooldowns on cantrips. Without reduced cooldowns cantrips are pretty bad. Also renewing stamina is pretty much a requirement for dps specs(it’s a perfect dps trait IMO – gives active defense based on your offensive abilities). Elemental attunement(without boon duration runes) is really not that good.

I’d say that health pools shouldn’t be as drastically different from each other as they are. This leads to many 3s kills in pvp between burst builds, which is not exactly fun, and it also hurts pve. Adventurer and scholar professions could see their base HP to be slightly higher. Not normalized, though.
The current time-to-kill will need to be reduced a lot for builds like full-offensive elementalists (which do not exist) to ever strive someday.

It’s a design choice for the arcana traitline to be useful to any elementalist. That much is clear. But there’s a difference between “being useful” and “being absolutely needed”. Arcana is needed, and not because it has some of their best traits, which surely has, but because the current attunement recharge rate is broken, and the elementalist does not work well without it.

I totally agree, bring all damage to the level of elementalist. Do however buff up the thief to take into account their lost of damage whether via toughness or hp or whatever.
Anyways, bring the damage of all classes to that of the elementalist or slightly higher than the elementalist.
If a class can kill you by spamming buttons a couple of buttons you know the damage is too high.
The elementalist is simply a symptom of a much wider range of problems in this game. Everything about the elementalist requires work BUT other classes don’t necessarily need to put in the same amount of work.
thief: faceroll.
mesmer: hit skill 4 or 5 and summon a high dps illusion every 20 second.
eng: spam ’nades.
elementalist: try pulling off earthquake w/o lightning flash. LOL
The point being I think guild wars 2 combat would be far more interesting if every class big skills require as much danger as earthquake does with the cool down. So to summon an illusion you need to do something that puts you at risk and not simply press 4 or 5 and get a nice ez damage.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

how about delete all other classes but warrior and all warriors have same specs, build and equipment and those who have the best internet wins?

Yeah. Then we have P2W.
Seriously now. 80% HP difference is too big and you can’t say that it’s that way to make everyone unique.
Uniqueness should be in mechanics. Not raw stats.
