Match Making is awful, seriously anet its rubbish.
Last 5+ games have been plagued by 4/5 premades full of turret engi’s.
It has to stop, it’s getting out of hand. Solo que should not have to deal with premades and stupidly cheese builds like the turret engi.
Please read this and understand, it needs fixing and soon.
Just a taste of what pvp has become, at least the first team there admitted that they were running cheese builds and knew they were unfair fights,

Anet fix this.. I was queing with Witch, its ridiculous.. We both have 5k+ ranked games and we still get stuck with this kitten.. Ranked arena should be competitive, but its filled with kittened meta specs taking advantage of broken match making and its not fun.. Experience pvpers do not want to play in it anymore because of that.. Same kitten better not happen with Stronghold.

That’s Anet for you! Even the Turret problem should be dealt with by now. But guess what? They won’t fix it. They would’ve already if they wanted to.
You had two necros and two mesmers on your team… what do you expect?
Matchmaking saw these double class types on your team so it did the same for the other team. They just happened to be all Engi’s. Who’s to say they weren’t waiting 5 minutes for a match either. It just made a decision based on what it had available.
I see this as working as intended…

That is proof that the system isn’t working.
IF the enemy team wasn’t a premade of 4 Engi, shouldn’t it appropriately separate the stacked classes by shifting 1 necro, 1 mesmer and 2 engineer per team? It only can’t be helped if the enemy team was indeed a 4player party.
You had two necros and two mesmers on your team… what do you expect?

And FYI, matchmaking does not work that way. Its between points/ratio. But the problem is, Everyone is flocking to engie because of that broken turret mechanic. So in any case you are right too, because MMR can’t find anyone who doesn’t play turret engie nowadays.

Are you sure, you’re quoting the right person? Double means 2, Quadruple means 4. Divide those by 2, you get a even split. I’m certain if you put those 10 players with 2 engineers PER team and/or 1 mesmer PER team, you can theoretically still get a balanced points/ratio rating.

So, how exactly should the matchmaking function then? It should know what builds you don’t like to play against?
And If you don’t like turret-engis, get a 5man group and metagame the living hell out of them.
I’m talking about 2 staffbunkers with tornado, mesmer for good portalrotations, shoutguard for stability and Fresh Air against projectiles and for the heavy DPS…. you know, sth like that, get creative! If 80% of the builds you face are the same, you can simply counter them. And if you say there are no counters to mass turret-engis, you’ve clearly not tested out enough stuff yet.

The point wasn’t the fact we got matched with the Engis, thats a broken class.. The point of the matchmaking is that, we were duo queing and we were getting matched against a full premade team.. And it happens quite a lot.. How is that fair for some people who go in solo etc.. I have played a lot of pvp and I am going to make the assumption that most people replying have too, we can all agree its much easier playing with a known team over a bunch of pugs, with voice communication or not.

Exactly the point I’m trying to make harra. Solo/duo que should not be faced with full premades, especially a full team of turret engi’s because the build is broken and it is extremely hard/near impossible to counter if yuor running in solo/duo ques. Two things to fix here…..

I don’t see a problem with the matchmaking system here.
I only see a problem with a small player base.
You know, you can create as complex and clever of a matchmaking system as you like. If there isn’t enough players to match against each other, there just isn’t enough players to match against each other. It’s not like the matchmaking system can just “create” opponents for you.
If the system would strictly only match 5 player stacks against other 5 player stacks, those stacks would have horrendous queue times(and probably start queuing as stacks of 4, which will then again rustle some jimmies, etc…)

Not the point….
The point here is that the team was a full premade. I don’t care how good you are, a full premade has much better team awareness and rotations than your average solo/duo quer’s. So tell me, why are we put against a full premade as a duo regardless of builds (even though they are broken, whether you fail to see it or not)?
And yes, I do realise that match making doesn’t care about builds and I don’t expect it to, just fix the state of the turret engi build….
So you can beat them and tell them how much of a baddies they are :P
I usually advice them to uninstall Gw2 because they are cancer and baddies and/or something along the lines.
Funny thing is, they can only say “haha” in chat because you just whooped their kitten .
