No point in competing, forming a team, playing against better players cuz the reward system doesn’t care if you’re top 100 team/solo q or in the %.

Winning rewards the same in both situations.

You can’t even have any visibility as a team, cuz leaderaboards are personal, matchmaking is horrible ( to the point that even being top 100 mostly means you’re farming pugs in odd hours) and due to this nobody cares about the only decent “competitive wannabe” thing this game has ( ESL weekly, the only resemblance of a league).

Just stating a fact, from a competitive pov this game has never been worse than now, “PvP patch” just made it even more for PvErs.

The game is collapsing.

Sort this kitten out.

I think it’s a well known fact that there’s not much competition in this game. Even Anet knows that, that’s why they been going the route they have. Just making pvp more accessible to everyone.

Gw2 pvp is fun and great at times, however if you’re looking for something more competitive you’re better off going somewhere else.

Actually prefer it the way it is(or the direction). I don’t know if there’s a reason to it except for the small population of pvpers, but for the relatively small time I’ve played spvp, the crowd is almost the same (fighting against the same people) even on different days.

Game design wise, competitiveness = very little percentage of player population is interested (majority of players/people are social players). Making pvp more of a social thing and less of a competitive thing is a good direction.

He pretty much saying a leaderboard 1-100 fight and a leaderboard 0%-10% yield same reward in win.

Perhaps when you get on leaderboard a win should earn you gems. This is incentive for people on leaderboard to become active.

I think it’s a well known fact that there’s not much competition in this game. Even Anet knows that, that’s why they been going the route they have. Just making pvp more accessible to everyone.

yeah the 15 april 2014 patch did well in making pvp more accessible to everyone as many more of my casual guild members are interested in sPvP.

unfortunately, PvE (daily dungeons runs, living story etc) is still much more profitable so most of them still stick to that. but they do play some team arena with our regular team once in a while though.

i think increasing the rewards should be the right way to go.

every descent PvP player knows it isnt about reward but about improving the challenge, not to mention there hasnt been any new game mode from the moment it released, even a fun mode like capture the flag would be more then welcome but there is NOTHING, no lets just keep going with conquest….GW2 has so much potential but nothing is done with it, its really a god kitten shame…..

I think they just need to add more to PvP. The April 15th patch really only added a few QoL changes and some minor re balancing yet it seemed to spark the PvP community alive for a short time at least. Guild Wars 1 had so many different options for PvP. Here we have conquest and WvW. Don’t get me wrong WvW is incredible but after tens of thousands of kills… you just need something else. Same for conquest. Something needs to be done to break up the monotony. Right now I’m content with rolling different classes and getting good with them in PvP but I’m running out of classes.

Incentives have nothing to do with the game mode.

What this game needs are INCENTIVES to stay at the top, something we currently don’t have.

A win rewards the same, doesn’t matter if you’re top 100 or oblivion %.

Decay is not permanent, so a guy can afk at top, go down then be at top again with a single match.

Team leaderboards don’t care about your team, since it’s personal.

so we NEED ASAP in order to incentivize people:

1. Different rewards appropriate to the level you’re playing ( rewards increasing as your rank increase, and there should be A HUGE DIFFERENCE between rating tiers)

2. Permanent, but slower, decay

3. Team leaderboards ( like, for example, old WoW 5vs5, 3vs3, 2vs2 arena)

4. Ingame leaderboards.

5. Seasons and leagues

Period.

Been said 100 times before for about 2 years now.

The game mode is the problem. It is fine to have conquest as one of many game modes. But with 1 game mode it just shackles everything. They will never give you people another game mode. Or if they do they won’t support it.

I just don’t think they have the resources to design a new innovative game mode.

Really everything else is just a minor issue which is debated amongst the tiny amount of people who still play this game as anything more than a facebook simulator.

I find it pointless to even discuss it and so should you all. This game had its chance to become something competitive and it failed.

Adding incentives for the few thousand people who still play competitive PvP is pointless. Something needs to be done to revive the playerbase rather than try and hold on to the dwindling people still there.

There are people who want to pvp and shouldnt require kitten rewards to do so. Then there are farmers, those who will grind endlessly even for the mediocre rewards even PVE gives you. All you get is a bunch of useless gear that you turn into mats. There is no actual items to farm for, unless you want to craft a legendary or ascended.

it’s no about rewards, it’s about INCENTIVES.

We don’t have a league while PvE-WvW do, this is ridicolous.

What’s the point of forming a team if no one knows you’re a team thx to our totally messed up leaderboards ?

What’s the point of playing against equally skilled players if 1 win in top 100 rewards the same of a win in the percentiles ?

These things drive away competitive players from this game, or even does ones who want to just become better.

It’s time to fix this kitten.

We had a cdi about new game modes, closed the 12th nov.

7 months and we have nothing.

I think it’s a little shame linked how really cdi are effectives for pve and living story.

You’re right there is nothing to play for.

I use to play for the ranks, but they made it so everyone can get rank 80 within a month.

I use to play competitively but there’s no competitive in game tournaments in pvp.

Why should we just accept that though? The game launched with grand promises of competitive PvP and a excellent pedigree (GW1).

Also you’re acting as if things like a robust leaderboard or matchmaking system just benefit e-sports-types. They do not. The main reason I personally don’t play sPvP anymore is because of the lack of things like that.
You might find the games itself sufficiently fun (I do not, I find them a poor game mode) but there is such a thing as “meta-fun”. The most prolific “meta-fun” in MMOs is probably loot and rewards. But PvPers care more about leaderboards, tournaments, etc. than just straight up loot.
