I was queueing with a friend in legend as a ruby player and topping scoreboards repeatedly.

I was dominating most 1v1s and 1v2s I got into, and my team would continuously fight off point, die randomly, contest points fruitlessly, and fail to flip while I tried to hold owned points and uncapped points.

Numerous players in Legend do not know how to play the game whatsoever and it seems rode the “Dragonhunter Keyboard-Smack” train to their pretty little icon.

If you’ve made it to legend but don’t know how to hold a point with a lead, or die 2v1 as the 2, what’s wrong? The game or the players?

Warriors yoloing far in LEGEND. Really? For that matter, half of ruby belongs in some kind of manchild kindergarten. This is why people 5-man, is so they don’t get teamed with window-lickers. Fix this matchmaking so the good players rise to the top. Balancing and changing after seasons is just lazy.

I do not want to carry helltrash through leagues, as per current matchmaking.

Let’s get this out of the way.

1. MMR => 50% win rate at ANY skill level
2. Win streak and come-back wins mean if you win 50%, your expected pip gain is > 0.

Basically the more game you play the more pip you gain regardless your skill level.. This means legend is a grind, nothing more.

We’re nearing the point of the month where players grinded their 300+ games to reach Legendary so, ya.

Anet said they’ll try making Legendary Division tougher to reach, so the division position is more deserved. Glad they’ll make an effort to do so.

I can’t consistently win 1v2’s at any tier let alone legend. Unless the players are really bad, it’s extremely difficult. I’ve often been able to down a player but I can’t stomp with the other one up. Not sure how everyone consistently wins 1v2s. Unless you mean 2v1?

Not all 1v2 can be won, but many can, ud be surprised how comfortable people have gotten in their rotations.

Ah yes the “everyone else but me is undeserving” belief.

Never judge a player based a single moment or fight, you don’t know what they where seeing on their screen, and chances are there are players out there that think you don’t deserve your rank.

But also tbf, quite a few of the current ruby-legend players do not belong there, they have simply smashed their face against the wall enough times.

And a few in ruby and saphire belong in legend.

Any player solo queuing wins or loses mostly by RNG, as there’s limits to how much can a single player of every profession carry a team that basically loses on purpose.

We have already determined this.

Without a system that actually measures personal skill during matches and reduces the rate at which the most skilled ‘MVP’ players fall, RNG affects solo players too much.

We can’t use personal scoring because that’s the farthest things from a personal skill indicator we have. So first things first, we need to improve personal score until it actually gets close enough to show personal skill to be used.

3 games in a row? A warrior yoloing far? People not being able to rotate for entire games?

No. I queued earlier today on stronghold. I got 3 thieves on my team. They all instantly died to a single warrior, and spent the rest of the game screaming “KILL TREB IDITS”.

I’m not the emperor of PvP. I make mistakes. People make mistakes, and mistakes are never an issue. This is something so far beyond any comprehension of stupid it should not have the title “Legend.”

Oh I’m sure you could make an argument based on the OP’s statement. It has strong rhetorical force.

But by definition if you’ve climbed into legend, you belong there. That’s how this system works. So yes, it’s an example of an oxymoron.

At present it ( finally ) tries to set up each match with each side having an equal chance. So this idea of “anyone can grind to the top” is 100% false.

So no, being in Legend doesn’t imply belonging there. Realistically it implies farming stronghold with a premade and/or riding a win streak through stacked matches. Being given a series of “gimmee” matches hardly qualifies anyone as “Legendary.”

I agree with the OP many players were lifted far above there true skill level. That, if anything, removed any “prestige” from Legend division.

Overall it is a vicious and repetitive cycle. With pvp population being as small as it is it’s almost impossible for good matchmaking to exist, otherwise queue times would be extremely long. And because of the bad matchmaking a lot of people drop pvp and do other stuff….so mm gets even worse and so on…..
On pvp based games with high population grinding your ranking could take months and even then it is separated into “solo” and “team” ranking which makes it kinda worthless to grind.

A separated solo/team mm system would help gw2 pvp a great deal yet the low playerbase makes it again impossible…..such a vicious cycle.

that garbage season promotes match grind and unlike in s2/s3 bad players can easily reach legend by simply spamming matches

My last five macthes i had in my team div 3, 4,3,legend, ( me prestige 2)premade of 3 esl and top players, even had players whisperimg me from the other team saying it was not a fair game.
I could post like 4 or 5 sreen shots of my last games , wher i had players from top team vs pugs , games ending 500- 50 and so on, pliz dont tell me MM makes even odds for both teams.
MM been bad for ages .

There is an element of luck involved, but generally I think players deserve the rank they have attained.

Someone who bought HoT, plays meta builds, joins a premade that practices teamwork and rolf stomps to legend may or may not be technically as skilled as a player that solo queues a non-HoT build to legend, but they both deserve the title legend.

Similarly, if a player only ends up in sapphire, ruby, or diamond it simply means that is as far as their skill, luck, and effort could take them: try again next season if you want to get to a higher rank- that’s half the fun right?

Dissing on players that achieved legend and saying they “don’t deserve it” is uncool imo.
