with the downstate of the ele changed as stated, i think anet has given a relatively clear answer on where they want to go with the downstates. which is not reducing their effectiveness but instead making 2v1 now completely unwinnable. which is bad for the game.

they should just remove downed state. i think i’ve only ever WON 2, 2v1’s so far..and this is over hundreds of games.

also, glad they gave thief a little nerf

sad to see no love for rangers (my second class)

ele didn’t need buffs. -_- they were already a pain in the as to kill

no it doesn’t, at all

edit: funny how all they’ve done to thief is reduce the big bad backstab numbers yet left their damage completely unchanged for the most part (combo is doing what? 5% dmg less now … big deal)
but at least that shows that ANet hasn’t completely given into the whine

warriors needed more love than just tremor buff … imo still gonna be unviable in tpvp

and ele’s meh, i’m really disappointed that ANet has gone this route … should’ve just nerfed the other kittening down-states instead of buffing the only one that isn’t completely annoying
might even trigger a 2 ele metagame now on legacy&khylo but i’m not completely sure how the new ele’s down state will fit into team fights

Augh the winning 2v1 argument. TPvP (not SPvP), is not about killing, it’s about point generation.

If you 2v1 on a neutral point or a point you own (to a lesser degree a point they own, not the best idea though), you are winning, matter of fact, you have won!

Your team should be able to secure the other points (assuming you live long enough, or at least make progress), and on top of this you are either preventing them from generating points or generating points for your team, whilst you bleed out on the floor and slowly die, preventing them from capping.

If you kill them, then you instant 3 cap the map and win 500 – 0. Tactics > Killing.

They nerfed the signet, which effectively nerfs the backstab, as well as several other moves they open with hard. Curious to see how it affects Pistol Whip now, though. I would venture to say that will become the main Thief spam again, but it’s much more managable than Backstab or Heartseeker in that they can’t just follow you with it over and over if you break stun.

I may get flammed by Elementalist fans/players, but I don’t uderstand the main hand dagger buffs, specially this one: “Cone of Cold: The healing gained from the this skill’s heal attribute has been increased from 480 to 780 at max level.” They already had an enormous selfhealing potential, now it’s going to be even worse. They didn’t lack control either, so the new Ring of Earth cripple was not necessary. It was a very strong set in the hands of a decent player, now… well… we shall see. I’m all for more responsiveness within the skills though. Also, where’s the Scepter love? Much more needed than dagger main hand.

Pretty smart move on indirectly nerfing Guardian’s Aegis by making several skills unblockable.

Elementalist downed state just became top tier. It can evade stability and blind stomps now.

I was expecting buffs to Warrior’s Longbow damage, specially the 1 skill… NOT to the Harpoon gun burst skill, was that buff such high priority, really?

I’m still expecting a HEFTY nerf to the Bunker staff Ele (or bunker Eles in general), that build is an abomination and should NOT exist in this game (it only got BETTER with the downed state buff).

The nerf to Assasin’s Signet was NOT enough (it may be used now to revert the HS and PW damage nerfs), it will MAYBE prolong the instagib by one additional attack, maybe they will have to do one or two additional heartseekers, so the problem of killing people too fast still remains.
Anyways, a spammable <50% HP leap finisher should be removed from the game forever (the dev. that came out with this one should be slapped in da face).

I was looking forward to some bunker nerfing as it is the one thing that I dislike about PvP really. I am pretty happy with what we got. Thieves were also kind of annoying but they got hit pretty decently for a single patch.

I really don’t want this to be Bunker Wars 2, but in the current meta, there’s at least 2 pure bunkers, 2 DPS, and 1 Roamer, or even 3 bunkers, 1 DPS, and 1 roamer.

Either way, the focus is still the bunker builds. And Eles, as ridiculous as their bunker builds are, just got buffed too. :/

2) A 3s cripple on ring of earth won’t increase dramatically the amount of control of a standard d/d ele non treated, outside the 3s chill of freezing burst, kd and knockback both at 40s+….I really fail to see the “huge control” of d/d eles

3) D/D is the hardest set on eles, given the amount of practice required to master, I think it’s to be expected to being rewarded in equal manner, an ele need to spend 2 months to get as good as somebody who play another profession for one week, if you get beaten by a decent ele you’ve got absolutely zero reason to “cry”, they worked their kitten to get to that level…at the very least you could say “gg” and walk away

1) Watter attunement healing, high regen uptime, cleansing wave… it all adds up in the course of the battle… and it adds up, for a lot.
2) I never said “huge control” as you quote me, I’m just surprised that a solid skill set such as dagger got the control, durability and damage improved, those three that was already good at, that’s it. There’re lots of other sets that need much more attention and this one didn’t even need it (feel free to disagree on that one).
3) I don’t really know what you’re trying to say here, if it’s about the responsiveness of the skills being improved, I said I agree… if you mean this set needed more of a reward through sheer buffs, I disagree.

Doesn t make sense to me or do i miss something….
well except downed state that needed some sort of buff being the worst of all.

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

They just made elementalists (who are already very strong) even stronger? (probably best downed state in the game now.) All I see are the dagger/dagger or dagger/scepter ones running around with immovable health bars.

Ahh..good to see the warrior downed state is now bottom of the rung officially. God forbid warriors being not bottom in anything. (and lol at buffing the underwater skills….honestly who gives a FF about the underwater adrenal…..).

That’s really amusing because it had about the same speed as the necro staff 1 projectile. However, mesmer’s skill needs a buffing but the necro projectile is ok? I would really like to hear the reasoning for this.

And of course some really problematic bugs were, as usual, ignored for the necro class.

What is really annoying that there is no word on the minion AI either which is more like artificial idiocy than anything else. Of course there is no word that there will be control buttons for the minions either so that players can actually get them doing something useful for once.

It is also hilarious that the necro is a class which has 1 spec which really works…the rest is either so-so or outright crap either to the lack of synergy of skill or simply bugs or the malfunctioning minion AI

The Cone of Cold buff is lovely on top of the reliability buffs to other skills for D/D Eles. Been playing a Heal/Power Auramancer for a while now, and glad to see it getting a little attention to the problem areas. The thing that still boggles my mind, though… why is RTL still broken? STILL? So annoying.

The fixed down state is great, too. Can’t wait to try it out tomorrow with the guildies in some 5v5. Definitely one of the strongest now, if not the strongest.

Glad to see D/D getting love, and not buffs in damage numbers. I think the damage is almost perfectly balanced, and other classes need to be brought down to the same level generally speaking.

Don’t think the Assassin’s Signet nerf really hit all that hard. 15% damage reduction over the entire combo or so? At least the 10k Backstabs might stop, I suppose. It’ll probably work really well with HS or PW now, though, where it was useless before.

Rangers need love, still. My first class, and they are getting pretty well ignored. Sword and SB are still good weapons, but their utility skills still suck, and are unreliable a lot of the time.

More patches like this would be great, though. The half-page worth of random bug fixes no one cared about got old. Fixing overall functionality of the classes should be priority one.

1)Think about it, Anet simply has given something substantial to the profession with the lowest HP and armour, isn’t it logical for somebody running with 14k HP to be able to heal himself effectively? Without water healing how would a d/d ele even fare compared to other professions with a set based on 300 range skills? Furthermore you need to simply stay on top of your game, the ele regen effect last only few secs every 10+s and in that time eles don’t deal great dmg
2) The d/d set didn’t get any damage improved thx god, the dmg is still the same with low dmg( save for lighting whip) autoattack and useful skill n2 on every attunement, it’s the only set with good sustained dmg
3) Yeah we needed more rewards for the battle wizard playstyle, they finally fixed a skill which at 45s CD would almost never hit a moving target( like a target who step slighty on the left or right)

It’s because even though the elementalist has high mobility, incredible survivability and utility and heaps of healing they thought it only right to increase his healing and cc. If you do somehow manage to finish him he can now enter an instant invulnerable mist form and deny you any chance of finishing him for the next 5 seconds.

Thanks by the way Anet. Since warriors now officially have the worst downed state in the game (previously held by eles), even if somehow we do activate vengeance (never happens), and our target is either a thief, mesmer (add in elementalist now!) and we do finish them off, there’s no POSSIBLE way we can down them before we fall back over and they revive from our death.

Thanks though, throw hammer on a 10 sec timer is great, really a game changer.

Ignoring the clueless, this is a patch im pretty happy with overall. No patch is ever perfect, no patch will ever have everything you wanted, but if these are the kind of changes we’ll see more of then i’m a little bit more optimistic for the future.

And i know the bug fixers are a different department from the balance guys, but we should really see some more fixes on engi’s, necro’s, and pretty much all of them. Balance change wise i think they got some good things done in this patch. But pls, more fixes.

Game would be amazing if all were capable of same damage with the same setup/combos as an ele, i agree.

No new pvp content and minor changes to some class’s whats to discuss? other than how long can people continue to play a 4 map rotation.

I think it would be more enjoyable if a game would make more drastic changes to its class’s in its update just to keep up the interest level.

Its always disappointing to get these large updates where its essentially going to be exactly the same as yesterday accept for some pumpkin heads scattered about.

The only thing new for me today is that it takes an hour longer to login.
