They might have just died of by my super professional grenade spam. I totally covered that cap point with grenades. Didn’t care what was on that point, didn’t look, wasn’t important, I just thought to myself: “Whatever’s on that point is gonna kittening DIE DUDE!”. Maybe I even killed an enemy Warrior trying to pull a skill off or something. Maybe that warrior was even just passing by, that poor dude. Doesn’t matter, eat my grenade and don’t touch my cap points! Those cap points are mine. I’ve got AoE, you don’t.

Looks like two Minion Masters, a Mesmer and a Ranger… Man, that’s nuts!

I don’t mind all of the pet classes and abilities, I typically run MM Necro in sPVP as my PVP main. But the targeting is what needs a look at. I mean, I was fighting a Spirit Ranger the other day and I couldn’t even touch her. Not because of any level of skill, I just couldn’t get my skills to stick to her because a spirit would kitten in front of her. That becomes I think something other than winning through skill, but winning through exploiting glitches. I know people have told me the same thing about my minion build, and it’s just incredibly frustrating.

Which dungeon is this?

This game would likely be esport material if there were only warriors. The other professions all have access to cheap and cheesy abilities.

3 seconds of AOE and all that is gone…

I wanted to give a suggestion to whoever came up with an idea of allowing AI controlled cluster army in PvP, but…

Those ai pets-minions and now spirits really went a bit out of hand with last updates. Wake up anet

… But then you remember Warriors can’t really do that in this game right?
Because seriously playing a Warrior in tournament right now must be the most depressing thing one can do with his life. I know because I’ve been doing it a lot lately, just because I’m as stubborn as a Rhino (Rhinos are stubborn right?).

Anyway I think even going to the dentist is more fun than playing warrior in tournaments atm…

Best way to counter this kitten is to bring up 3 engis with mortal (LOL yes! kittening MORTARS) and bomb the crap out of them….murica style xD Too bad mortar sucks for everything outside this

Its not like there has been an MMO before that required vastly more skill to play than this game but at the same time..Had things similar to Spirit Ranger, Minion Master..

So you seriously came here and compare 8v8 DAOC and 5v5 GW2, also excusing the oversaturation of GW2 battlefield with AI controlled minions, because DAOC also had that?

And you can, with a straight face, tell me, that what we can see on my screenshot, is serious Arena spvp e-sports material and every thing is fine?

If your answer to any of those question is “Yes”, then we are obviously in a strong disagreement and I have nothing more to say to you other than considering the sPvP community of this game, you are in a very very small minority…

Lots of over-exaggeration in this thread, but I think most players can agree that there is a LOT of screen pollution from adds in PvP and that it’s pretty detrimental to skilled play

Um…. if you’ve got a team consisting of two MM necros, a spirit ranger, and a phantasm mesmer, be prepared to be in for a world of hurt. Sure, there’s a lot of screen clutter, but AoE will just DESTROY your build, and if you’re relying on pets to do the work for you, you’re gonna have a bad time, because AI is never as good as players. I see that and think: Looks fun. One other guy at my back and we can wreck these guys XD

8v8 was more of an esport than this game will ever be.

Not only was it about actually defeating your opponent, it required far more skill to play.

in that game if you saw a Theurgist spamming people (you think that’s screen clutter in that screenshot? 1 Theurgist could put out double that number of pets in 8v8, God help you if you fought a 2 or 3 theurgist team) with pets, that interrupted mind you, which kept people from casting any ability (think daze) while this was happening, You’d have your AOER actually kill those pets.

Yes, you actually had to have an AOER for characters like this, and yes those pets were mindless….

That kind of thing.

Given that Mesmers were designed with visual / targeting noise in mind, I can’t really see that as a negative. Body blocking could be a problem, for sure, but it’s also a tactical application to try and swarm your opponent, and the opponent has to figure out how to cut through the clutter. The only AI thing I find problematic is chasing – I’d agree that summoned allies probably need a shorter leash, especially when the summoner isn’t focusing on a target.

Did you forget that BDs and theurgs (especially theurgs) were among the most hated classes in the entire game specifically because of pet spam? And alb groups in general running theurg, sorc, sorc, minst? It was sort of possible to deal with pets (in a group setting, often not solo), but it sure as hell wasn’t enjoyable and no one thought it was good for the game.

You also don’t need double sorc, The absolute nastiest setup when we ran alb (mostly midgard here) was 3 Theurgist/1 Sorc/1 Minstrel/2 Clerics/1 Cabby….

When we ran midgard we didn’t even run BD’s in the group unless I got off my Savage or Valk and ran my BD (which i usually didn’t)

Oh I forgot Thanes and Runemaster at the beginning of the game..

seriously, it’s a neverending process of pleasing the self-entitled. some people like summonables. you don’t like them, we get it. now I think we can close this thread and move on.

another ironic thing about this thread i wanted to point out is the number of QQ threads out there asking to nerf AOE’s. AOE’s in this game is insane strong atm and would wipe out those pets like there’s no tomorrow. so i ask again, what’s the point of this thread?

Really in between of all of those lines of my opening post, there’s two things I was saying: Remove the pets and ALSO remove the AoE. Or better yet, reduce both. 1 AI controlled entity per player is more than enough. Amount of AoE skills should be reduced and same goes for the diameter… such skills simply can’t cover the whole cap point.

Walls are a fine for example. You have to care where and how you’re going to place them. I would like to see the same to apply to other AoEs in the game.

That’s it.
