Norn Guardian – Aurora Lustyr (Lv 80)
Mia A Shadows Glow – Human Thief (Lv 80)
I don’t understand what your (ANet) view on balance is.
I don’t understand at what tier of play you are trying to balance.
I don’t understand what your goals are for each class.
I don’t understand what your view on build diversity per class is.
I don’t understand what you’re doing or where you’re going with your PvP.
All I know is that I play and weave my way through your changes, analyze, and adapt.
I do this because you have what could be the best action combat system of any RPG I have every played, and I have fun playing it.
I don’t see a direction though.
I see things that make sense, but I also see things that don’t make sense.
I don’t see your initiative, I don’t see your passion, I’ve felt it missing for too long.
I don’t see you caring about your biggest assets in the PvP scene.
Do you even know what they are? Do you even know what’s most important?
I see you half-assing it. I see your infrequent actions followed by inactivity with intermittent feedback of a tone that you are sure of yourselves, yet I see you going in directions that aren’t getting you or your PvP loyal what they deserve.
Do you see our dedication? Do you see those of us let down? Do you see our interest? Our passion? Do we need to do something better? What are we doing wrong?
I see your front of confidence, but I see you with no direction, and a journey without a direction has only a chance of reaching a desirable destination. Are you going to leave your destination up to RNG?
Do you not care about what you reach, about what you achieve in this domain?
Where is that motivation? Where is that passion?
I’ve seen it in you before. I want it back.

errr i think they are probably still busy with gw2 china launch at the moment?
you always find time for what you’re passionate about
Do we need to do something better? What are we doing wrong?
Not buying enough gems.
Do we need to do something better? What are we doing wrong?

You’re supposed to start your letter with “Dear Anet”, and end it with “Best Regards”
Anyway, I think Anet understands the balance and they know what has to be changed. They just have very limited manpower to do it.
The development has clearly no idea what to do with this game. Also they refuse to cooperate with the community and especially with ppl that have an idea about the game. Otherwise they wouldn’t move in a circle for 2 years . . .

The first sentence is the real, sad truth.
This game has no direction, neither developers have any idea what to do with the game.
It would be so easy to implement better rewards according to lb position, team rating instead of personal one ( like in WoW, 2006 wise technology) or just one of GW1 game modes.
Yet they’re not doing so, clearly because they’ve no idea what they should do or shouldn’t.
This game is such a waste of potential that it makes me want to uninstall everytime i play.

*they dedicate very little manpower
/fixed.
Sadly, this is exactly how most of the pvp playerbase that has been around since launch feels, and it’s sadly apparent that most of whats written is painfully correct.
Something needs to be done, either a passionate fire needs to be lit, or more resources need to be dedicated to PvP so that the job can be done correctly, it cannot take 3-4 months for a light balance update with how poor a state the games pvp balance has been in for ages now. When we get to a good place, then we can have balance updates take some time between each patch to maintain healthy balance. But we’re not even to that point yet.
A-nets treatment of PvP to date, has been unacceptable by most standards, especially for a game that was attempting to go E-Sports. Any business knows that you have to put in to get a yield or return, you put barely anything in, and you get barely anything back, that’s reality, and we see that every time we play PvP.
This game is just so fluid in its pvp combat…..it’s hard to quit this game…..

Exactly, they fail to understand the reality that the majority of the reason people play and love this game is the combat, mixed with no subscription fee. The combat is literally unparalleled and so fun to play, it doesn’t matter how garbage the pvp, or pve content is, people would still play it because of the combat.

but cant do this forever …
ArcheAge is coming … i gave up on this game
let me try, though i frankly am newbie. somewhat random thoughts.

tpvp and soloQ should be balanced in high and mid skill level.
I don’t understand what your goals are for each class.
given high customizability of gw2, there is no goal for prof identity. prof identity is in RP such as: “this is in and out, hard to catch, pita damage, but once caught – squishy. stealth is his mark”. this RP is then overall implemented in weapon and util skills, traits.
I don’t understand what your view on build diversity per class is.
in general – the more the better. given meta there should be at least one viable per meta.
I don’t understand what you’re doing or where you’re going with your PvP.
question is rhetorical. if you mean esports, would be nice, but mmo overall doesnt seem to be a good choice for esports but to the extent available, we’ll support it. but there will be no big resources invested in this. there is no particular emphasis to cater to high tier players necessarily.
I do this because you have what could be the best action combat system of any RPG I have every played, and I have fun playing it.
yeah, we know
I don’t see a direction though.
the direction is making good better. we dont expect any fundamental changes.
I don’t see your initiative, I don’t see your passion, I’ve felt it missing for too long.
allie murdock, who got so much hate before getting all the love (after announcing resignation) used to work 17 hours, then would go home, get in bad and watch twitch on her plasma. that’s not no passion.

I don’t understand what your (ANet) view on balance is.
- balance is per build.
- some builds can be strong 1v1, some in team fight. it is possible to have hard counter 1v1.
- no build should counter everything 1v1, without having counter itself.
- power and condi, bunker and damage, each should be able to kill the other in 1v1.
- given meta, every build should have at least one viable build, fitting at least one role.

Thanks for posting some of your observations.
Allie indeed seemed very passionate at ANet. Unfortunately the company itself doesn’t seem to echo that passion from what we’ve seen up to this point. 1 person can make a significant difference when they have a proper position of influence, Allie had passion but not the position.
In my opinion, It’s the upper management that lacks the same fire for PvP that some of the lower level employees have/had.

Your responses to these quotes, sound like your a dev…
where’s the gvg? where’s the competitive play like the old guild wars? we had 2 maps in 1 year and no new game modes, i thought this game was a competitive one but maybe im wrong
