Q:
90% of the new condition changes are to my liking, i even appreciate the passive damage that confusion really deserved; it finally feels good to stack 9+ confusion on a person, knowing it’s actually going to do some legitimate damage unless cleansed.
idk if it’s my opinion alone, but for the amount of damage a single stack of burning can do, and for how easily accessable/stackable it is for many classes, i find stackable burns to now be pretty overpowered.
i’m really not trying to make this a b!chfest, crying ‘condi op!!1,’ please understand that,
but when i’m able to pick up my dusty ele, run a troll(turns out its not so trollish) burn build, and down AND kill 3 individual enemies in less than 8 seconds in the clocktower(only stomping one, mind you), there has to be a problem.
i know i’m absolutely capable of cleansing the burns on my mesmer, but i didnt run my build to be condi cleansing; i built it to juke and kite enemies so much that i rarely get hit.
I didn’t trait/change utilities to take on condi necros/engies or other high condi applying classes.
unfortunately i now fear running into a single guardian, because even in stealth, i will get 2 or 3, maybe 4 stacks of burn on me, and i’m at 50% health FROM THE BURNS in mere seconds.
these are my experiences with playing, and playing against, frequent burn applying classes. I’d like to hear other people’s experiences and opinions though, please!

I disagree.
Your particular problem is self inflicted by making a known poor choice. Not enough condi cleansing. I run my mes with enough condi cleansing, and do not have your issues.
I also run a burning guard and engi. The guard has to stay bunker cause its healthpool is so pathetic it gets one shot all the time while running glass, but the engi I can switch between bunker and glass builds. Of course I get almost one shot while runing my glass build. Often times I am only able to apply 3-4 stacks of burn before I am knocked out while runing the glass build, and often times by mesmers in particular.
Would you say that we need to nerf your burst + PU + my burn on the engi then ?
I think that is a very fair and right thing to do if we start the nerfs. Also, I would like to not get one shot on my 11k health guard pls. Nerf everything and everyone that can make it feel as if though I am getting 1 shot.

The problem of burn is only about ele.
That’s why:
1) ele can stack a insane amount of might by itself while fight a enemy, till 20-25 stack of might (I’ve a friend that reach 25 stack of might and with 2400 condi damage he’s able to deal 40k of burn with 12 stack in 5 seconds, more or less 8-9k of burn /sec).
2. He can stack easy 16 stack of burn. The enemy melt down in a second) ele can make a lot of firefields and have a lot of blasts to stack might and inflict burn, with other skills ot inflict burn, and it’s everything AoE, hard to fight and hard to evade.
If you look at the guardian you can see that it’s not really OP.
I’m a condi guardian and for experience I can say that Burn is very strong on guardian but not OP. A good player with a little of condi clear can kill me, expecially necro, mesmer, warrior and some eles with that ******* diamond skin.
As a guardian I can deal a very high amount of damage and stack a good amount of burn, but especially with 3 skills: Judge’s intervention (32 sec CD if traited), Purging Flames (28 sec CD if traited) and torch skill 4 (12 sec CD if traited) and everyone of that skills inflict 3 stack of burn. At the begin of a fight I can inflict quickly 12 stack of burn with a good “burst” damage. If the enemy dodge/block/blind/active aimmunity boon/skill or have diamond skin all my burst fall down, making me able to inflict only 1 stack of burn every 3 hit (a ranger with SB can deal more or less the same damage with it’s auto attack stacking bleed). I help myself with scepter skill 2, but it’s very easy to evade.
Then I need a lot of time to be able again to deal my full condition damage. In that time the enemy can kill me easy why I’m not able to deal good damage.
The only class I’ve see able to kill everything with burn is the ele, that stack might with every fire skill, blast and when active a aura. And inflict burn with skills, crits, dodge, the cantrip that clean conditions and common attacks with the gliph active.
That’s a little too much.
Basicly: it’s not the Burn that is OP, it’s the amount of burn that a ele can stack, with a insane amount of might auto-stacked, that make burn OP.

nope.
any class with burn can stack it high and fast,
play a trapper ranger with a torch and you’ll ruin peoples day,
play a burn guard and stack 10 burns in seconds watch it tick for 4k damage a second…

Dhuumfire would like to have a word with you, look at mesmer, war and engi yes even engi unless you’re staying in fields like a dummy. It’s completely justified on burn guard with ele from what I see it’s mostly people walking through the fire fields but that gives the ele a dominant pressure and time to recover while applying damage mid range that’s an ele issue not burning even with ranger it becomes predictable once you knows he’s trapper.
dont walk thru the fire ring and bring some condi clear
Burning needs shaved before unnecessary nerfs hit classes that apply a lot of it.
Please anet nerf burns.
Sincerely yours – Mr mesmer

Hyperbole comments may work with poor new fella who just bought the game..but no with experienced players
You’ve listed a series of traits (stack might with every fire skill = Pyromancer puissance); (And inflict burn with skills, crits = Burning precision) and utilities ( common attacks with the gliph active = Glyph of elemental power )…that no freaking meta ele has ever used and that would make for a rather poor build suitable for low level soloQ against newbs
Pls do find me a meta ele build with those traits and utilities in it and some more “juicy” info for the “ignorants” easily fooled.
if you pick Burning precision = You lose cleansing fire and might stacks on cantrips use
Pyromancer puissance= you lose blinding ashes as both are GM and Pyromancer..it’s not even used in PvE so…
Glyph of EP = a joke utility you won’t even see in WvW…maybe in some hotjoin match
So tell me more about this burning stacks on regular cele ele once you dodge a couple obvious animation, a fire ele focused on burning ( lol ) is like 3x easier to kill than a regular fire ele.
