A “prefer this player” or “avoid this player” setting.
After a match you can use this to influence your matchmaking to not be matched up in the same team with someone that went AFK or tried to screw everyone up intentionally, or for the opposite reason: to be with someone that plays well and is a great communicator again.
Why don’t we have any form of this setting at all?
Because your queue time would probably be 2 hours
I believe if you block players it will not match you with them. Effectively the same thing.
Mei?
or DVA? I want DVA.

That’s not correct and has been validated by an A-Net rep in another post.

Quite frankly, I’d take Widowmaker anytime.
Please, the devs listened to the plebs once and it was just wasted effort. Oh please Anet give us a MOBA game mode they said! Complete failure and it probably killed off any opportunity for something worthwhile, like 3v3 arenas. Imagine if we got that instead of Stronghold. What a game this could’ve been.
Because this game is filled with people with a severe case of Dunning–Kruger effect. It’s always the MMR’s fault, they’re always placed with 4 noobs and they’re always facing an ESL Pro full premade.
People would start blocking others randomly then complain that the queues are long and the game is dead.
Don’t have enough players for that. I just add players i don’t want on my team to friends and queue when they are already in match.

^ This. And i give them names like “SuicidalDH”, “Press1Thief”, “AFK1”, “Rager1”
Can also do the same to avoid premades. If i fight a 4 person pre made that i know is playing well. I add one of them and just Q dodge them for the next hour.

The issue with SH is that it got delivered and hasn’t been touched since because ‘pros’ didn’t want it for their meets. So it got left in a cheese state and people blame the mode.

That’s actually a good idea.. But I would like to see the option of making diff friendgroups first :p

Yep, biggest problem with pvp in this game isnt the game. Its the playerbase.

The playerbase in this game is no different than any of the playerbases of similar games.
I remember getting base spec rangers and warriors in T5 Sapphire last season. I had an unreal tilt and would have unfairly blocked them from being teamed (They’d reappear over in my matches). Then on my Tempest I’d go far with a Warrior and we’d deviate from the standard (and predictable) four mid one home strat. I tend to play classes that are weak to condi (even Tempest since it needs to be above certain HP to trigger Diamond Skin) and with Reapers and Chronos running amok the meta didn’t help either. Reasonable excuses are still excuses however and I finally got out of Sapphire, made it to T2 Ruby, and quit while I was ahead for the last two weeks.
This season I’m going to try for at least Diamond. It’s always high noon somewhere in the world ^_^

Doubt it. Check to see if player is available > if yes, matched. If no > proceed to regular match making.
This would only add a few seconds x 10 for everyone else’s preferences. Additionlly, if this did jack up queue times, there could simply be a checkbox to disable the option. I think it would be a worthwhile addition to the game.
I don’t think people understand what the function is…
The “avoid/prefer player” setting either puts that person at a high priority or a low priority when matchmaking. It doesn’t remove them at all from queing with you.
They can’t even make normal matchmaking (reset mmr at begin of the season, make teams that each have 50% win chance etc.) and you expect them to implement this feature?

Yes I do actually, if they want to promote sPvP at all instead of the dripping kittenhole in place right now.
Matches are often 50/50 to start.
It’s a 50/50 chance the first mid fight will be won.
It’s a 50/50 chance that the team is smart enough to out rotate.. or continue to push mid one by one.
It’s a 50/50 chance players knows the difference.
It’s impossible for this game to be a 50/50 black & white line from start to finish… if it was, each game would be a stalemate.
Like mentioned it would end up to 100 hours long que times, if you would even get a game ever. You could put yourself to que, take 2 weeks holiday, come back find yourself in same kittening que and still no game.
You would have maybe max 3 players on you kitten sucking list and the rest 200 players on your scrub-kittenlist. Would not work here.
Guild Wars 2 has that feature. If you prefer a player instead of that player, just make a full premade team with players you like (from real life friends to ingame friends or guild mates). This works better than setting from Overwatch, because you have better control of who you desire, you can make friends and use even voice chat with them.

Sometimes people just want to soloq, but they don’t want the experience to be ruined by repeatedly being matched with extremely terrible or toxic players.
Doing that is already possible, via perverting your friends list and queue-dodging people you don’t want to play with. This is pretty cumbersome, clogs up your friends list with people you’d rather not have any contact with, and increases your queue times considerably (since you wait for their queue to pop, then you queue).
Adding a simple feature that lets you try to avoid those players without the cumbersome nonsense of using the “friends” list and queue dodging would be fantastic.
Adding a feature that makes you more likely to match with people you say you’d prefer to be matched with makes it more likely for people to make friends, and do exactly what you’re suggesting above, too.
In my opinion, ranked queue should force all teams to queue kitten man premades, as it would help to transformed Ranked from what it is now (a slight step above hotjoin, aka still not a serious competitive game mode at all), into an actual serious competitive game mode. But borrowing this solution from Overwatch would be a step in the right direction, and one that’s much more in keeping with ANET’s desire to keep ranked PvP very casual-friendly (and honestly… it’s more casual friendly than unranked, since it’s the exact same thing but with better rewards and divisions that create an illusion of meaningful progression as a player).
